Week 4 Garaway vs Cardinal Mooney

Still 14-13 Garaway midway thru the 4th. Mooney had momentum. Stymied Garaway's running game and has had great field position, but Garaway's defense keeps coming up with stops.

Wallick seems willing to run into brick walls, run the clock, and trust his defense.

If Mooney had a decent kicker, they would be ahead.

Garaway driving thanks to a face mask PF and a 24 yard completion to Speedy.

Mooney forces a punt. 3:15 to go. Garaway punt downed at the 6 yard line. Mooney going to have to drive the whole field.
 
YM pass to 30 yard line... incompletion... incompletion... incompletion (3rd and 10)... completion to 49, but comes back due to illegal block (3rd and 6) 2:25 left... incompletion and holding call on Mooney, declined (4th and 6)... Mooney QB pressured --> incompletion, Garaway ball and they should be able to run out the clock. Mooney out of timeouts.

Garaway wins 14-13. Fantastic win. Pirate defense won this game.

It's interesting - Mooney is a big team, especially the offensive guards and tackles. You can see the talent and speed.

My impression is that they don't always play hard and they are undisciplined. Garaway kids played hard all the way through and their discipline allowed them to overcome Mooney's talent.

Oh, and Mooney needs to recruit a kicker. Grab a kid off the soccer team. :)
 
Mooney is probably the best 0-4 team in the state that may make the playoffs still. Not a team I’d want to see first round For what it’s worth. A program that used to be one of the best in any division
