Week 3 PERRY@ Dublin Coffman

The 7 personal fouls/ unsportsmanlike calls were the most I've ever seen in a game in watching over 40 years of high school football. Even more than I've seen between two teams in one game.
A couple were questionable, but after the first three I think the officials were even more sensitive to anything that happened.
The pass interference call was a good one. It happened on our side of the field and the Coffman defender clearly pushed our WR in the back, who fell to the ground, while the Coffman DB picked off the pass for am apparent TD.

Rocks Roll just as i thought!
Gratz to the rocks!
Best team in 10 yrs?...throw out the 07 team and Id agree.
Darby/Rocks looking parallel.
Maybe we finally get you Stiv!

Perry got so many free 15 yard gains as if it was clockwork , Rocks would stop them two plays in a row but the flag would apppear as if scripted, it was unreal and if you watched the first two games the Rocks HAD NONE OF THAT STUFF OR VERY LITTLE . It was bizzare I haven't been watching as long as Big Ed but I have never seen anything like it .

As far as the Best Coffman team in a while 2007 was special they were the onloy team to outgain ST X who had almost their whole defense getting d-1 offers they were ranked 4th in the country that year Rocks got tackled in bounds and the clock ran out after a drive inside the 10 and lost 10-7 .

Their defense that year wasn't great all year but played great in that game offense was similar to this one but with more high end talent with a half dozen kids getting d-1 offers. The 2009 team had incredible chemistry adn talent as well , but lost starting QB Stoudt in week 6 for the season and a crushing blow to the defense when All Ohio and the Region's defensive player of the year Bret Buehler went down early in game one of the play-offs , and 4 other injuries depleted the depth a bit at reciever in particular and lost to Davidson who peaked at the right time and was completley healthy after having a tough go with injuries and illness earlier that year . but that team was capable as Davidson won the title that year and DC SNAP FOR SNAP played with them outgaiing them in the regional final but Davidson played a better cleaner game and desrved the win I would have loved to see that game with Stoudt a great offensive line and leading tackler Buehler in there .

This team has some weaknesses , not many teams are perfect save every so often one of the catholic all star teams once in a while , but the offesne is tough and if Williamson who is runing with a chip on his shoulder as I thought he would continues this type of performacne they wil be hard to stop he moved the pile last night as if he were a thick ankled 230 pound brutish plodding running back . Everyone is raving about Gahanna now that they are 3-0 and crushed UA last night , well Coffman and while only a scrimmage HAMMERED THEM IN AUGUST , not close at all which says something if only a scrimmage.

The X-Factor is Walsh , he runs that offense as smoothly as anyone could , and if they can run the ball as wel they wil be a tough out in the play-offs no doubt.

As for Perry , they have some tough kids the QB is improved ran the ball well at times and took a bit of a beating but kept coming and compted well they came out very well in the first quarter . the Soph running back is going to be very good IS GOOD NOW keep giving him the ball I would say , good balance strong legs and runs hard, Coffman gave up that 70 yard run which was disconcerting Perry had a nice opening drive that stalled eventually but moved it nicley and after that Coffman played better on defense but kept giving them 15 yard advances with penalties .

It was evident from the opening drive that the Perry defense was overmatched and wans't going to stop them , Rocks 1st offense never punted and only stopped themselves with a few dropped passes it seemed .

Davidson week is here, with what looks like the worst Davidson team in quite some time , no way to sugar coat getting outplayed and outgained at home to Beavercreek no way around it they look average at best just another team , not trying to give them bulletin board material but it' jsut what it is it seems adn it's obvious from a sample size of three games now , it's not the same level whatsoever as it has been the last decade or so . They play like I was told they played alst night adn Liberty scores 35 on them and beats them by a couple scores , Coffman should handle them and that would give them 3 losses and no play-offs which they should have little probelm with in the grand scheme having two rings since 2006

As for Darby I wouldn't get excited Lights to play them this year , Yes they are similar teams but this edition offesnisvely is really tough to stop , there have been good games the last few years with Darby losing closer games that have been competitive no doubt but I am thinking you need to may be have a better passing game in order to beat the Rocks this year the WS game wil tell alot , no trash talk just a feeling that although it wojld be very competitive you might to not have to play them this year , unless it;s the region final I guess and they are stil there along with you.

It's early though it wil get there in time, may be a possible meeting would conjur up images of that epic 2007 regional final with what seemed to be a big play every 3 or 4 plays , Rocks couldn't stop you that night , but Rocks kept pace it was a very entertaining game to say the least a game Darby could have just as easily won , could be lik ethat with Darby getting some redemption , although the Darby program has a much different vibe and ther coaching staff is different while the Rocks staff is pretty much in tact from that year which truth be told is one of the most underrated aspects of high school football success , which is Continuity in the coaching staff

Gotta give it up to the Rocks stivic, they are a very good team. I see no weakness in then other than they need to clean up the penalties. Even their kick offs are impressive that kid is a weapon just keep the other teams from getting a good return. I do not see anyone left on your schedule beating them 10-0 and a long play-off run is in store for the Rocks if they can stay healthy and improve week by week as for the Panthers they need to learn from this one and get ready for next week. Hopefully they will respond and "FIGHT ON" the rest of the way! BEAT Massillon!!!!

Although the outcome of the game wouldn't have changed, Perry got the ball inside Coffman's 15 twice and came away with nothing. Two other times aided by penalties they got inside the Coffman 30 and came away with nothing. A lot of that had to do with Coffman's defense, but some of it was due to lack of execution by Perry. They will need to clean that up. Against any team you have to take advantage of any opportunity to score, but against a very good team like Coffman it's imperative.

Coffman has been a bend but not break defense for a while now their strength is not allowing teams who have moved the ball down the field to get into the end zone .

Moving the bal inside the red zone is just tougher to do , especially if you don;t have advanatges in match-ups athletically which Perry didn't , even when they scored they were helped by a peanlty moving it down inside the 5 adn then the pass was missed by a millimeter by the defensive back .

IT' SHARD TO SCORE TOUCHDOWNS , Coffman settled for two field goals being stopped by a defense that was overmatched , so while I get what you are saying it is what seperates teams the ability to get the rock in the end zone , Perry just had less room and were beaten a tthe line of scrimmage inside the 30 you can say execution was the probelm but time and space or lack therof was the bigger probelm from what I saw .

Coming away with nothing wasn't jsut an execution probelm it was a match-up problem , if Perry was capable of sticking it in the end zone more they would have , as it was that one TD they got on 4th down happened barely and was aided by a penalty

Believe me stivic, if you win a game, barely completing a pass off the fingertips of a defender or by the aide of a penalty, would you complain? I think not. You take it anyway you can get it. A win is a win. I wouldn't care if I won every game by 1 point. It still counts.
Football like most other sports is a game of inches at times.

Yes my point is and Coffman had that probelm in 2008 they simply didn; tget the ball into the end zone enough when they had it in scoring range , because they lacked the ability make a play to get there. they had a good team but that deficiency bit them in the more than once during that season.

So in refrence to your previous point , the difference was when Perry got in range the Coffman defense gave them less room to run and covered a bit tighter and Perry was unable to make a play to negate the tigheter coverage and they got more pressure on the QB as well . When Coffman had it down there they could flip it out to a receiver and he would gain yards after the catch even if tightly covered , your guys might catch it but had little chacne to run with it after the catch which is the ability you need sometimes to get the key first down or a touchdown and of course you can;'t underestimate having a guy the caliber of Walsh running things in that area of the field and a guy like Williamson to get the tough 4-5 yards down there .

That's the way I see it anyway , how many wins can you guys get this season , I know you play some very good teams but to me two more shold be doable . You'll get better , you played well off the bat, some good young players like the young Sophomore back quite a bit , you would do much better agasint next year's Coffman team most likley , we'l be following you the rest of the way

Rumor has it that for now this will be the last meeting between our teams.
With starting a lot of juniors this season, I think we are still playing like juniors in many aspects of the game especially up front where we start 4.
Hopefully we get better and things don't get any easier this week against Massillon. Best of luck to the Rocks the rest of the season.

Yeah i know that it's a two year deal like most non league games are , Just saying if the teams played next year it would be very competitive IMO.

We'll be rooting for you the rest of the way .
