Week 1: Pickerington North

With little over than a week away let's start the week 1 thread.

The first of four home games for the Panthers to start the season.

As I posted on another thread...

I think Elder's advantage in this game is:

  1. Elder will be more prepared (Elder had one of the best coaching staffs in the state especially the last three years with their additions on defense)
  2. The Pit... yes it still does intimidate teams that have never played there
  3. Defense - Elder has a good number of starters coming back from last year especially in the front 7
  4. Offense - the line looked good at LW last week. If Elder can control the clock and keep the PN superstar off the field then I like their chances

We will learn a lot about this year's team in week 1, but If Elder loses its not the end of the season. The ability to contain the big play will be key for the Panthers.

Ohio State 2024 target Sam Williams-Dixon settles in at Pickerington North

“I can outrun people, run people over and just have that chip on my shoulder that I’m not doing this for myself,” Williams-Dixon said. “I’m also doing it for the men up front that block for me and for my team.”

From the Columbus Dispatch:

The Pickerington North football coach came into the 2023 season thinking his team was in a great situation, returning many major contributors from last season’s team, including 2025 running back Michael Taylor, who has a Kentucky offer.

But with Williams-Dixon, Hillerich said he has an offensive weapon that can be plugged in wherever he’s needed.

“I think he runs with power, and he makes guys miss in space,” Hillerich said. “I don’t think there’s anybody that’s going to be able to touch him in space.”

After three seasons at West Holmes, both Sam Williams-Dixon and Roddreka Dixon said the move from Millersburg to Pickerington was a family decision and not associated with football.

“Nobody drafted nobody,” Roddreka Dixon said. “We didn’t know who these people were. It’s not that type of party. This is the school area, and that’s where we ended up.”

PN is coached by Nate Hillerich in his 6th Season. In seven seasons at Hamilton Township, Hillerich compiled a 52-23 record. Nate took over the program in 2017

Record at Pick North (including playoffs)

2022: 7-5

2021: 9-4

2020: 6-2 (COVID season)

2019: 6-4

2018: 6-4

2017: 10-3 (regional final)

9 starters back on D is what concerns me. I have a lot of faith in Elder’s D, but I don’t know about the Offense.

What about the tough guy trophy for playing a tough schedule? Don’t forget about that. The more I read, the more convinced I am they shouldn’t have scheduled these dirtbags. All these programs bring in high profile transfers and Elder just gets continually screwed scheduling them. And that’s something you’d expect from the pop up schools like the team from VA or Clearwater, not regular public schools.

I'm confident in the offensive line will make up for the inexperience of the rest of the offense. Over the season, they will catch up.

😂

Who would be left to play? Literally, every school is doing what they can within the rules to get better players.

You act like everyone else is the outlier, when Elder is the outlier. More lies from me I guess.

I want to know when this game was scheduled vs when this transfer became official. My hunch is they knew this was happening before it was announced and conned Elder into scheduling them.

Well duh. You’re high if you think anyone is going to come out and say they moved for athletic purposes. Kids won’t even do that when transferring to prep academies like IMG and Huntington Prep. Nothing to get antsy about.

PN announced the game with Elder in December 2022.
Williams-Dixon enrolled in PN Feb. 28

And some posters were trying to act like Elder did something wrong with Estep coming in as a Freshman from SMOY. Kiss my a**.
