Wayne/Springfield.... enough is enough

If someone gets killed...the schools involved in hosting the event WILL get punished irrespective of fault. Didn't say it would be right or fair, but what ever is with authority. I don't like these solutions either, I just know how governing bodies operate. They'll overreach bigtime and dam the consequences.
So you know there was no fights at all nothing near a fight happened. Just people on here not knowing what's going on or the media making it a big thing. It was nothing major

I know nothing other than what has been said on here. I do know that incidents like this, where fans are beginning to feel unsafe appears to be escalating and if it continues, the authorities will take action, even if the action taken is overreaching and wrong. That's what TPTB do...it's all they do.

Yeah don't believe all what's said. Vamps has no clue what happened. Just assumed. Made it seem like more than it was. When it wasn't that big of a deal. People like him cause the panic that doesn't need to be. Makes situations bigger than what they are. It might snow three inches but Vamps will tell people it's a huge blizzard and you can't drive or leave the house it's so bad outside.

Played against Douglass teams multiple times as a player. Had his whole team come out to confront us at midfield as we ran on the field, and witnessed it happen during other seasons. I can't say definitively that direction came from him, but hard to think that it didn't. There was a reason Trotwood was mediocre for years before he had success and it was because he actively promoted extra curricular stuff from the sideline and his teams were undisciplined. Douglass talked as much trash to the opposing teams players from the sideline as anyone on the field. We were coached during preparation for Trotwood to keep our composure because they were going to try to start fights before the game, during the game and after the game (and every time we played them that turned out to be true). Douglass cried that the refs were racist whenever we beat them even though 80 to 90% of our team was black. You're talking about a guy who was suspended twice for recruiting/pressuring teachers to change grades in his early years at Trotwood. Suspended another time for publicly criticizing officials. He was kept around despite all of his antics because he had support from players and parents because he would get a high number of players recruited even when their team results were bad. Once he toned all of that down he started having success. For the most part, he seems to have cleaned up his act these days.

I apologize for not articulating my thought better initially, if you need me to explain anything else in the future please just ask. I'll make it as simple as I can for you.
Hey man. This is ridiculous. I have no dog in this fight but these accusations of Douglass being some type of Mongol warlord is downright silly.

His kids play hard and fast and he is intense on the sidelines but cmon, he ain't out there doing the above.. He was only at Twood for 2 years before they started winning. Give the dude some credit for building winning programs and helping young men change their lives. Got dude out here like he Hacksaw Jim Dugan! Crazy stuff. Stop.

You said before it was a scuffle where a punch or two were thrown.

So now it's there was no fight at all?

Which is it?

Make up your mind.

I was not at the game, but turned on my car radio as I was leaving the Centerville game. WING 1410 had broadcast the game and it had just ended. Keith Byers and his sidekick were talking about how it was the most exciting finish to a football game that they had ever witnessed. Suddenly Keith Byers said there was some incident going on down on the field and not sure what was going on but did sound pretty concerned for people's safety. They quickly ended the broadcast with not much recap at all. Maybe no fight, but it sure sounded like some folks were really concerned about what the heck was going on. I never got the impression that the media was blowing it out-of-proportion or just kids being kids.

You are a Bum, what the Hell does Douglas have to do with a fight in the stands or parking lot??? Yes Coach is a MUTHA*****, but whatever happened on Friday was not him. No ring having Bums.
Whenever there’s any kind of problem at Wayne, it’s always the other schools fault.. I will say this, Wayne, Springfield N/S, Northmont, and Trotwood have all been responsible for some Bull****. All I hear is, “Back then it was just Doug, and never us!”

Have you read everyone of my posts over the last 17 years. I thought I had that honor... lol .... I got come up with something to put me back on top again....
Vamps, at least you have some kind of intellect in your comments no matter what, they make sense. I don't think you'll ever get to that level.

It's pretty clear some of the fervent new posters are probably high schoolers.

Word on the street is that Wayne cancelled practice yesterday. Can anyone confirm?

I doubt any high schoolers post on Yappi. Occasionally you will get the ones that post calling out a buddy and how good he is.

What is wrong with people? This is high school sports. First of all if you can't behave at a high school sporting even, then stay home! Schools should not have to spend thousands of dollars on security, fans should not have to worry about their safety. One thing I've noticed over the last several years at high school games are tailgates popping up. Not saying they are bad, but I'm pretty sure alcohol is part of it. And again, that puts the school in position of being the bad guy. No school in Ohio allows alcohol on school grounds, but people these days are above the law and do it anyway. Alcohol and competition does not mix.
You hate to have to make pre game announcements for people to act like adults... and finally can we stop with schools "code of conduct" policies? I mean really? This is just common sense, don't be a knucklehead. You shouldn't have to have a "code of conduct" for kids to behave. Anyway, the only ones that do are the ones who don't need a code of conduct, the others don't care.

I think the reason for a code of conduct is so expectations are delineated and no one can say "I didn't know" or some other such feeble adolescent excuse. That is, they exist to make it clear that some actions will have consequences. The list isn't exhaustive, but it does set the tone. Yes, it does boil down to "don't be a knucklehead", but sometimes kids need that to be spelled out and put in front of them. Even then it doesn't always sink in.

They've always blown stuff like that out of proportion when SHS is involved. Apparently merging the high schools didn't make any bit of difference in that regard...

There was one incident of violence...I think it was 2004 at Trotwood. Northmont beat Trotwood that night and there was a fight at the end of the game!
I kinda remember that. Still had a few friends in school then. It was mostly contained to the field there was some fan jawing as well. Yeah they were escorted back. I remember there was a bit of jawing in the parking lot at Trotwood after the basketball game later that year. Northmont won that to. There was a bit more of a police presence at the next few games against Trotwood for a few years after.

Large-scale fights at football games are NOTHING new - there were common back in the 1970's. Had to have an escort out of Wellston OH after a game back in 1977 due to rocks, 2x4s, etc. getting tossed at both the band and team buses (some serious pitching talent in the area was apparently going to waste). A year later, another school had half the windows in a couple of busses shot out by BB's at a high school in Scioto County.

But - the difference with today is that a significant percentage of 13-17 year old kids pack heat these days. I work with teenage kids in the worst parts of Columbus and Dayton - on any given day, I'll guarantee you that every public school in Ohio has at least five percent of the male student body carrying on any given day. Metal detectors - less than effective, as all you have to do is slip your piece into the building after school and store it in your "inside bag" or locker. What used to be fistfights are now gun battles.
