Turf

Big O

I'm sure all saw coverage in Repository about an "unnamed" donor giving Plain $600,000 to pay for FieldTurf in the new stadium they're building. They don't have the $$$ yet to put seats on both sides, but they'll have turf.
Any chance someone in NC might cut Don Shimik a check to put plastic grass in NC Memorial? It could sure use an upgrade.

The committee is in place and working on this, not sure one of us will donate that much but all of us can make this happen.

hey why dont we put in a dome as well :help:

and ill answer my own question...football without a dirty uniform is called soccer.

I myself don't like turf, but anymore thats the way to go, with more and more teams going to it we need have it.

Being a jackson fan i dont want memorial stadium with turf..It wouldnt seem as dark and gloomy as a place to play, wouldnt have the same mystique.

2001 when they ruined our undefeated season.
:D

However, it isn't exactly a nice place to play for us. Since 1947, when Memorial Stadium opened, Jackson is 8-20* again the Vikings there. We've also played a few "neutral" games there against teams like Oakwood, but I don't know all of the records.

*I may not have all the games included - in the 50's, my records show we played several years in a row at Jackson, but that doesn't seem logical. Also, the two schools didn't play at all in 1951.

The 1983 Jackson won 8-7, they also won 3-0 in 1981 which clinched Hoover w/ a 4-6 record.

5 previous to that:

1971 49-0 Hoover
1973 44-14 Hoover
1975 12-7 Hoover
1977 36-6 Hoover
1979 10-0 Hoover

If Hoover were to get field turf someday (I'm not holding my breath). It would seem possible that Walsh University would consider playing their home games at Memorial Stadium rather than Fawcett Stadium.

In addition, Freshman would then have an opportunity to play at the stadium as well. Not to mention Lacrosse or soccer.

No wear & tear on the field turf.
