Steam rooms / saunas

During these times that would be the last place I would go.

That being said I am huge fan of these, especially when used in conjunction with a cold plunge like our fine friends in Scandinavia/Russia use them. I consider them therapeutic and when done right they can help with all kind of health issues. Not sure if anyone knows what a Schvitz is but I was introduced when I was a little kid and continued to patronize this place until the Covid hit. Not sure what they are doing these days but hopefully it will be around when things open back up:

You don’t have to be in the sauna to see that. Pretty much the entire locker room is open season.

Been a few years: standing at the locker I looked right, one of my Profs, looked left, one of my students. Awkward small talk.

I don't get saunas though. I've never not been bored in one. What do people get out of those things?

Saunas are good for working up a sweat without doing anything. I know it’s an old joke, but those old guys really DGAF about covering up. A lot of the times it feels like they’re doing it on purpose as some kind of inside joke.

Ask Eagle Fan, he’s in some kind of sauna club or something.

My sauna at the kettering Rec is closed. But oddly enough, my Kroger brought back the self-serve soup and salad bar just last month.

I'll never forget about 10 years ago at the local Y some 80 year old pulls a chair over by the hand dryer, kicks one leg up on the chair and dries his pubes. There are just some things you can't un-see.

I know a couple people who installed saunas at their house. They swear by a good sweat. I'm with EIB, too boring for me.

I don't think I'm looking forward to the google ads coming.

Can't reach some places with a towel. Sorry bout the trauma.

First used a sauna forty years ago. Two brothers opened a Nautilus gym not far from me, and put one in the basement. Overall I didn't care for it, tended to dry my voice out. But it felt good to go in there for a few minutes on a 15-degree day and warm up before working out.

That Y has the most F'ed up design. Only way to get to the pool from the locker room was to go through the shower. As a kid you knew there would be four old dudes looking like Ron Jeremy on each side scrubbing their sacks a little to thoroughly. No thanks I'll hang in the gym.

yeah, speaking of f-ed up? ?

as for the design, I think that's fairly normal. They expect you to shower before getting into the pool. No? Pretty sure it's the same at the University. I don't have my head on a swivel to know what else is going on but based on your description, I'd say the design is exactly what it needs to be. Wouldn't want to share the pool with whatever those old guys were scrubbing off.

Local gyms, etc opening saunas / steam rooms yet? It appears to still be against the Responsible Restart Ohio guidlelines that have not been withdrawn.

I don't use them, it is just an operational question.

Mine is still closed

I think they are supposed to be closed. If any places have them open, I'd like to know the reasoning. Hopefully the state addresses this soon by announcing a roll-back of those Responsible Restart Ohio rules.
