Congrats to Lancer State Runner Up Max Byrd. Max lost today in the DI 119 lbs. state finals to defending stae champion, Dean Heil from St. Edward. (Score 7-2)

Max is the first Lancer to make the state wrestling finals since Neal Neyer in 1976....35 years!

Max is a 3 time placer at the state tourney placing 7, 6 & 2.

Great season Max!
Next year, bring home the title in your senior year.

Agreed. Max made us all proud to be Lancer wrestling fans. Lancers have had three guys wrestle in the state finals before Max, all in the mid 70s.

1974 Randy Davis 126 2nd
1975 Mark Ruberg 145 2nd
1976 Neal Neyer 155 FIRST

What is interesting is that I was telling the guy sitting next to me last night at Cintas Center about Max when he told me his brother also finished second at state wrestling for La Salle.
