Some notes:
Good to see Jackson back in the top ten. Not sure why they dropped out last week, when all's they did was continue to stay undefeated. Oh well...polls are subjective.
Jackson is 8-0-0, not 6-0-0.
God matchup coming up next Saturday (10/3) when Jackson hosts #3 Walsh in a seemingly annual grudge match...lol.

Hard to see logic in some of these things. Dropping below two teams you beat in Madeira and Chagrin and way behind one your team tied. I am curious how many coaches across the state vote in this process? But I agree they learned how to spell and some solid Cincy teams in there either way which is good for the area.

I see the Cloverleaf Colts Girls continue to get no respect. Undefeated with no ties. Hopefully that changes when the beat Walsh Jesuit on October 17.

Here's their season so far:

9/01/09 @ Green 3-0 (W)
9/03/09 vs. Copley 3-2 (W)
9/05/09 vs. Nordonia 2-0 (W)
9/05/09 @ Hoover 2-0 (W)
9/05/09 @ North Royalton 2-0 (W)
9/08/09 @ Tallmadge 3-0 (W)
9/10/09 vs. Revere 3-0 (W)
9/15/09 vs. Barberton 3-0 (W)
9/17/09 @ Wadsworth 3-2 (W)

Go Colts!!

From the Gazette (9/24/09)

BATH TWP. — The Cloverleaf girls soccer team did it again Wednesday with a 5-0 shutout of Revere.

The Colts (10-0, 4-0) are now more than half way to their second straight Suburban League championship as keeper Karly Beuck (3 saves) has yet to allow a score this season.

Cloverleaf held a 1-0 lead at the break thanks to a Heather Buckwald score midway through the frame, but exploded for four scores in the second half.

Katie Roberts netted a pair in less than a 10-minute span, while Rachel Gokey and Katie Kolodka also found the back of the net. Megan Connor and Buckwald dished out assists.

The Colts outshot the Minutemen (3-4-1, 2-2) 26-5.

COLTCOUNTRY - I'm not sure the source of your information (I think you have the volleyball team scores), but to set the record straight, the Lady Colts are in fact 10-0, 4-0, however they do not play Walsh in the regular season and they have their first true test tomorrow against Massilon Jackson. Their results to date and remaining schedule includes:

8/22 Kent Roosevelt 5-0
8/29 Brunswick 4-0
8/31 Akron Firestone 7-1
9/02 Green 5-0
9/05 North Canton Hoover 6-0
9/09 Copley 3-0
9/16 Tallmadge 10-0
9/19 Wooster 2-0
9/21 Ashland 7-1
9/23 Revere 5-0
9/26 @Massilon Jackson
9/30 @Barberton
10/03 @Norton
10/07 @Wadsworth
10/12 @Hoban
10/14 Highland

Tomorrow's game should be a dandy as both teams are undefeated and we (Jackson) are ranked #10 in the state. Neither team has been overly tested so far, so this will be a great measuring stick of where both are. Too bad it's supposed to be a soggy night.

Interesting to note that Cloverleaf and Jackson have had four common opponents, so far (Revere, Copley, Green & Hoover) and Cloverleaf not only has a higher goal differential overall, but also in those four common games.

As said - should be a very, very good game.

Jackson's info so far:
8/26 - Green (won 3-0)
8/29 - at Sylvania Northview (won 1-0)
9/02 - at Hoover (won 4-0)
9/05 - at Wadsworth (won 3-1)
9/09 - at GlenOak (won 2-1)
9/12 - at Revere (won 2-1)
9/16 - Fitch (won 3-0)
9/19 - Copley (won 4-0)
9/23 - at Perry (won 5-1)

Sorry about my incorrect information. Either way, BOTH volleyball and soccer are undefeated. You are correct, the game tomorrow should say alot for either team. If the Colts win, will they get some respect in the polls????

Go Colts!!

I agree, it is a great time to be a Colt for both girls soccer and volleyball. Unsure about the respect in the polls...however if we continue to move at our current pace, it will eventually come. I kinda like flying below the radar. BTW if I understand it correctly, the results of tomorrow's game with Jackson (either way) will not be reflected in poll#4...it will be reflected in the following poll.

That last line is correct.

State Poll Process
Member coaches of the OSSCA representing each district conduct the state poll. There are 10 districts and each district has a representative per division. There will be 7 polls total, with the last poll being the last weekend of the regular season.
Process:
  • 1. Each district representative is to send the top three teams from their district to the divisional chair.
    a. The process of how each district determines their top three is set by the district.
    2. The information is to be sent on Friday evening during the season. The reason for Friday evening is it allows voting to be completed on Saturday or at latest Sunday morning. This allows the regional/national voters to time meet regional deadlines for the NSCAA poll.
    a. The information is to include the teams, their record, and results from the week.
    b. Saturday games do not count in that week's poll and they will be taken into consideration the following week.
    3. If a coach from a district fails to send in nominations then that district will not be included in that weekly poll.
    4. Once all information has been received, then each representative will send who they think are the top 10 teams in the state to the divisional chair. The votes are totaled and the poll is completed.
The coaches who assist with the poll are volunteers and the OSSCA asks that they not be contacted about how they voted or why certain teams are not in the poll. Polls are always subjects of debate, but this is the process that has been approved and will be used.

As a note, Cloverleaf & Jackson are both members of the Akron District. Walsh, Medina & Jackson are all members of that district & all made the top ten. Without a win by C'leaf, it's going to be near impossible for the Colts to break that top ten, unless Medina or Walsh screw up, badly.
