Springfield @ Huber Heights Wayne .... Round 1

Another dismal effort by Coach Mukes and his coaching staff, with him yet to win a playoff game as head coach. While Springfield proved to be the better team, Wayne would have lost to anyone they would have played in the first round as they have done with Coach Mukes at the helm. Especially since all phases of the football team decided not to show up. Again, thanks to the Wayne administration for killing the Wayne football team success...

Edit: I didn't follow the football season in 2020, only time in 40+ years, and therefore wasn't aware that Wayne beat Centerville in the first round of the playoffs in a very short regular season. Probably good for Coach Mukes that it was a shortened season as his teams tend to get worse as the season progresses. I still stand by his lack of playoff success though and him being the wrong coach for Wayne football!

Lewis and Thompson showed up tonight and played very hard for Wayne.

Coach mukes and staff has to go. He is terrible. Hope he resigns. Trash coach. Staff is terrible. No discipline no accountability no nothing. Juat horrific. Worst coaching staff in all of high school sports. Wayne was elite. Now they are bottom feeders

How bout giving a little credit to the Springfield defense and O line? They were phenomenal tonight.

Didnt they beat Centerville in 2020

Sun shines on a dog's every now and then. What about week before that losing at home to a 1-7 team. Oh yeah and there was a running clock. Trash coach and staff. Them young men deserve better.
The issue I saw tonight was Wayne couldn't convert on 3rd n 4th downs which kept the defense on the field too long. Both of Wayne's TDs were set up by long runs deep into Springfield territory. Otherwise, they couldn't get 1st downs and consistently march downfield.

Coach Mukes and staff have not had the success that Wayne has traditionally expected is true. But them being trash is not true. They are 29-22 in the regular season since Mukes took over. Not great but a 57% winning isn't trash, especially when you play in one of the toughest conferences in Ohio. The real issue is the lack of success in the playoffs. Missed playoffs in 2019 and only one win since being the head coach. That is trash for Wayne. The worst loss is the 2021 home playoff loss for a bad (3-7) Dublin Coffman team after going 8-2 and being a 3 seed. The biggest thing is them seemingly not getting the most out of the talent they have. Several D1 signees that were P5 and some high D1, D2 signees as well. I will say the last time Wayne made a run in the playoffs was 2016(Made the 3rd round). So this slide started before Mukes took over. The issue is who are you going to get to be head coach if you fire Mukes or he steps down? You better have a good coach already lined up before you make that move. Plus any big time coach is not going to be stuck in a classroom all day.
