Some firsts from Medina-Hoover D1 Regional Final

Hoover was playing in its first regional final after reaching its first regional semifinal last season.
When Hoover scored by penalty kick in the first half, it was the first time #1 ranked Medina had been behind this year.
When Hoover took a 2-0 lead later in the first half, it was the first time Medina had allowed a goal from the run of play (non-restart) all season.
Hoover's goalie took over the position when the regular starter was injured in the district finals.

Some non-firsts include that this was Hoover Coach Neil Baasten's final game after a career at St. Thomas Aquinas and Hoover with over 300 wins.
And Medina will face St. Ignatius for the 4th consecutive season in the state semifinals.
