Sidney coach resigns

Sounds like the board was upset to lose Morris. They may be begging him to come back. Question will be, does he even want to leave NB right now?

A LOT of people were upset to lose Morris. If he's interested, I certainly hope he gets a legit look from everyone in charge. I also fully believe that Andre Gordon would have played his Senior year had that not gone down the way it did.

That‘s one version. Another one is that Morris undermined Doenges. If that was the case there was no choice but to get rid of the guy.
Yep. That version goes: Asked to be an assistant at Sidney after he moved back to New Bremen with wife (who's from there), was allowed to coach, then yelled at other assistant coaches and criticized them in front of kids and during games. Then threw a fit and submitted a letter of resignation to school board (since when does a volunteer assistant submit a letter of resignation to a school board?) when he was told he wasn't going to be allowed to return following season.

I'm pretty sure there is no one left on the board who was a member in 2017; entire board has been replaced. And @BrutusBuckeye90, Andre would have had a hard time playing football from Sidney from Huntington, West Virgina (and he would have went there regardless of whether Morris was there or not IMO, because Morris being there had no bearing on his basketball scholarship offers or lack therof, which is why he went there for a semester in the first place).

Yeah it’s a real shame when an assistant coach holds everyone to a higher standard than the rest of the coaching staff ever did. Morris had more respect on that staff then anyone else and has showed every year since then with kids cussing at coaches and throwing equipment

Interesting. I think at New Bremen some kids love him, and some don’t really care for his rah rah style. I think results wise you can’t argue with what he has done, and I haven’t heard of any issues within the coaching staff. I do believe New Bremen is a different atmosphere than Sidney, parents (for the most part) do not get involved and let the coaches coach, often these issues start at the parents.

By reading the article sounds like people wanted him to stay. I've heard a few coaches versions and the public's version. I've come to think Doenges and the other coaches were first threatened by his knowledge. Then they didn't like his coaching style, actually holding kids accountable. Doenges wanted to be a friend first then a coach. Like lat said the cussing, throwing helmets and talking back to the coaches became a every game thing.

I have know idea how people could side with Doenges after watching a game.

If I’m Sidney I’m calling Tipp’s OC Craig Syphrit just for the heck of it. Not sure what kind of aspirations he has but he is well regarded at Tipp and has led Tipp’s offense into the 21st century and turned Tipp into a potent spread/rpo team.
He was the OC at Van Wert before they really took off.

I know nothing about him. Looks like he did ok at Urbana, Not so great at Lock Haven (Who?) and decent at Graham.
Urbana was a dying school so not sure he had any support there, I know nothing about lock haven, and graham is in a not so good football league. I just hope he can change the culture and starts with clearing out most of the previous staff

Head coach at D2 colleges, assistant at colleges before that, led Graham to first playoff win in over 20 years. I'd say he's a hell of a get. Can't believe there's already pessimism over Sidney getting a college coach, which I'd never dreamed of.

And calling the CBC a bad football conference with what Bellefontaine has done to us some years is funny.

There is pessimism over every coach hired. Like why is a college coach going back to a small D2 non power high school? And far as what Bellefontaine has done to us doesn’t say much cause it’s not like Sidney has been a dominant powerhouse.

Did you read the story? Answer's in there.

And you're just wrong re: CBC. It's a plenty strong football conference.

It's hard to win football games at Graham. This guy did a good job.

He'll figure out how to be competitive with the kids Sidney has.
I hope so cause the athletes in Sidney aren’t quite as disciplined as the athletes you see at graham

How many state championships has the cbc won in the past 10-15 years? Or even had teams in the state finals
As @queencitybuckeye said that is a ridiculous measuring stick. If that's your qualifications, you can argue the GMC is "a weak league." But Springfield Shawnee has made the finals in your time frame, something no MVL school has done.

Looking through their league website, plenty of teams over that time frame have advanced to regional finals. It took four years for one MVL school to make it that far.

Taynor had success at a D2 college (with no money) and led Graham to their first winning seasons in 10 years, and first playoff win in over 20. He won't be starting from scratch here. And from how it sounds, he'll install that discipline you crave.
