In the folk tradition he was in a line of performers that took simple songs and made them their own. One of the most famous would be Good Night Irene, which he learned from Leadbelly and he taugh to numerous others.



Could there ever be a better song to end a concert? Goodnight Pete.

Have to roger-ditto that Auggie. Pete was an Iconic LEGEND in the Folk music world. "The Weavers". In 1950 "Goodnight Irene " was #1 in USA, and around the world.

Was a huge communist, disavowed them in the 60s when he saw what they really were about. Still a big socialist who championed liberal causes through music.
