Rep. Edwards suggests the government should take over the OHSAA

It's disappointing that a state like Pennsylvania, with a higher cost of living, has $9 state championship tickets and cheaper tickets in earlier rounds. Has better catastrophic coverage than Ohio offers. Reimburses schools. And yet somehow still functions without a loss. And Ohio is burning through $15 tickets like it's kindling and complaining they can't afford to operate without yet another round of playoffs in which no one is getting reimbursed for travel or stadium costs. Just saying they can get concessions and parking on top of already higher prices.

If OHSSA doest pay him the state should.

That's what he would have you believe. He's hoping those middle class and people on fixed incomes will contribute to his re-election campaign..... and a lot more than $15. Doesn't anyone think that he would care if Nelsonville were not in the playoffs? Opportunism at its finest.
They are almost always in the playoffs. Nelsonville York has a very good, well supported small school football program.

Don't these clowns have better things to do? Is the state in such great shape that the legislators can try to take over hs sports? Do your jobs, buffoons.

Actually, they don't. Any contentious issue in the state is just shunted off to be an issue in an election, that way the reps don't have to deal with them. Now, if we actually made it harder than a 50% vote to change the state constitution, maybe the legislature would have to do something.

It's bad enough and now you want to interject politicians. Give me a break.

If the OHSAA is awful as compared to organizations in other states, why are the member schools not doing anything about it?
The fact that OHSAA works FOR the members, but the members don't hold them accountable is the reason this all fails. It's been a good ole boys club forever. It's like anything else in life - if there's no accountability it doesn't work. If you are a school administrator and part of an OHSAA committee and all you do is go to meetings for lunch and to rub elbows, it's a problem.

The state doesn’t pay for things like salaries and benefits, or facilities and fleets, by selling $12 tickets to football games. Your taxes are going up, or you’re getting a dramatically lower quality OHSAA if the state takes the reins.
Tell us more about what OHSAA spends on fleets. Are you worried your janitorial employment at OHSAA will no longer include a vehicle.

How about the member schools do that? If they don’t care, why should the legislature?
Really good point, here. The member schools are the ones paying. So if they are content standing by while these things happen on their dime, who is the government to say they know better than those paying the bills?

Wait, that last question seems rhetorical. LoL

Would his constituents care if Nelsonville wasnt in the playoffs? That's who he represents. You think he just picked up this issue and ran with it on his own?
