Playoffs

Will 7-3 get them in? Playoffs for the Vikes will be decided by the Fitch and Jackson games... if they win both--which is possible--they will be in for sure at 8-2...

Here's my take:

At 7-3, it all depends on which two teams they beat. If one of them happens to be Jackson, their chances are very good. If on the other hand they beat only Perry & Fitch, they may not receive enough Harbin points to qualify.

At 8-2, they're in!

Like the previous 3 weeks, each game is pivotal. The team need not look any further than Fitch. The Fitch game is all that matters right now!

Leave No Doubt!!!

I agree, if 7-3 - jackson has to be one of teams they beat. That being said, let's concentrate on fitch and take care of this week!

It will all come down to the Jackson game... they will be 7-2 going into it and if they win, they're in... fed. too down to be in with a loss

Have to beat Perry and Jackson and then hope. Not getting many points from beating Lake, GO, Boardman, etc.

If Amherst or Brunswick win out, it might be tough. Each will, however, probably only win 2 of 3. Amherst has to play 7-0 Avon Lake in week 10 and Brunswick has 7-0 Normandy this week.

Well, CB is back, it appears your last statement is contradictory to your initial statement. What do you really beleive? Second thought, it doesn't matter.

Hoover must beat Perry. That's all that matters!!!

Let's just win and let the Harbin points system take care of itself!

LEAVE NO DOUBT!

..... tough loss to perry.... i believe hoover has a chance if they lose to mckinley and beat jackson to finish 7-3... does anyone know how true this statement is

With the loss to Perry, Hoover has dropped from 6th place to 10th place in the region. The good news is the we are still only .1434 points away from a playoff spot. If we can get a win over Jackson, that would be good for some more points. That should be enough to get us in there.

Also, the two teams between us and the number 8 spot are Amherst Steele and Brunswick.

Amherst plays Midpark this week who has a record of 2-6, so not too many points there. Next week they play Avon Lake who is 8-0. I don't see Amherst winning that one.

Brunswick plays Valley Forge this week. They are 1-7, so not many points there. The final week is against Strongsville. They are 5-3, so that one could hurt us.

The 7th place team is Elyria. Their last two games are Normandy (7-1) and Medina (2-6).

6th place is Green and they will be playing Tallmadge (8-0) and Barberton (3-5)

IF Hoover beats Jackson they are in hands down and could be as high as #6.

Hoover has some (or almost) guaranteed points:

Boardman/Fitch 6 L2
GlenOak/Fitch 6 L2
Lake over Timken 5.5 L2
CCC over St Thomas 4 L2
Coolidge DC over winless DC Cardozo 5 L2

That is 26.5 L2 coming in...

If GlenOak beats Perry I think they could that would be an additional 6 L2's

Unlikely is Lake over Perry, 6 L2's and Coolidge over Dunbar 5 L2's

At worst Hoover has 132 L2 and 33 L1's heading into the Jackson game with 16.9999 total points

If Hoover beats Jackson that will be worth 6L1 and 41.5 L2

Total points if they beat Jackson they will have no less than 21.3747 Harbins

Beating Jackson is the key, it is very possible. Go Vikings.

Green going 7-3 would give the 18.9500 points...39 l1's & 150.5 l2's

That includes beating Barberton (5.5 l1 and 16 l2), and some guaranteed wins.

Amherst Steele (9th) will not make the playoffs unless they beat Avon Lake, there other opponent is 2-6 Midpark. They are only .0184 points ahead of Hoover and would likely finish below Hoover even if they beat Midpark.

IF Hoover would have beaten Perry the Vikings would have ended up with no less 19.6075 which would have been atleast a 50% shot at making the playoffs.

They need to beat Jackson and have the following happen.

Avon Lake beat Amherst Steele

if that happens then we need:
Lake over Timken
GO over Perry
CCC over STA
DC beating a winless team

if all that happens Hoover could jump to #7 seed.

I ran through some numbers this afternoon and it looks like we want Findlay and TSJ to win. That puts Massillon/McK at the 1 and 4 seeds. I feel that Findlay and TSJ are beatable teams. If either of them lose we could end up facing McK/Mass. in the first round which would be pretty tough.

No, b/c the loser will end up with roughly 28 points. But if Findlay or TSJ lose they drop below that moving either McK or Mass to the #2,3.

With McKinley winning:

1) McKinley
2) Findlay
3) TSJ
4) Massillon (could lose and finish 3rd)
5) Hudson
6) Elyria
7) Hoover
8) Sylvania Northview

* If GO beats Perry, and one of Elyria's beaten opponents loses that is pjoected to win Hoover could finish 6th.

* If Hudson loses Hoover could finish as high as 5th, but likely 6th.

With Hoover winning:

55% 7 seed
35% 6 seed
6% 5 seed
4% 8 seed

Basically what needs to happen is win and Amherst Steele loss they're in.

But they have no shot of getting in if they lose, so you must WIN!!!!!

Even if Amherst Steele wins, Hoover will still make it if they win. Unless Lake loses to Timken, Central loses to STA and DC Coolidge (6-2) loses to winless Cardozo.

Hudson is the game to watch, they are facing Nordonia at Nordonia and Nordonia is on a roll. They just beat Brush 42-14 (Brush beat Hudson 10-0, and lost to Solon 17-14).

If Hudson loses all heck could break loose.

My $ would be on if Hoover wins they would the 7 seed.

Levi, I don't know who you are, but I always enjoy reading your posts.

They are thought out, focused and informative.

Thanks

I hope and pray we have a road trip on November 6th.

Go Vikes!

Thanks for the compliments.

I can't agree anymore about the first weekend in November. If it's in Toledo so be it. I don't care if gas is 8 bucks a gallon I'll be there.

JOLT JACKSON!!!!

St. Johns and Findlay both play 8-1 teams.

Yeah I actually could see St John's losing and finishing 4th. Findlay plays Napleon, although there one loss was to Marion Harding. Findlay bludegoned Marion Harding. Although comparative scores can be deceptive, remember Sandusky (very mediocre) gave Findlay all they wanted losing just 24-21.

There is a possibility for ALOT of movement among this region:

Findlay, St Johns, Hudson could all lose. Brunswick is probably a slight underdog, but they could finish 9-1 and miss the playoffs.

The newspaper is clueless about the playoff scenario. Hoover doesn't need ANY help to get in. Unless Lake loses to winless Timken, Coolidge (6-2) loses to winless Cardozo, and STA beats Central. Chances are one might happen, but not 2. Also GO beating Perry would be a HUGE boost.

The paper also claims that Green has a shot at the playoffs. They would need Hoover, Brunswick, Amherst Steele, and Jackson. Yes Hoover AND Jackson to lose. Or they would need Hudson and/or Sylvania Northview (but Green could still finish behind them) in addition to all the teams listed.

They're in

Polar Purple (look past the color) claims to have a spread sheet that is figuring out the points even before Joe Eitel...he's punching in scores as they flow in and says the Vikings are in.
Check out his thread on the football page.
