What's interesting about both Little Nas X and Billie Eilish are both of these songs are made on these little electronic boxes that are basically cheap mini recording studios. No need to leave your house, just pull up the sound you want at the speed you want and feed in the auto tuned vocals, just like that you have a record. The days of an artist working for months in a studio with professional musicians polishing sonic masterpieces like Pet Sounds are over.

Saw Billie at a music festival earlier this year. The crowd were screaming every single lyric to every single song so loudly that I had trouble hearing her. She’s somewhat of a phenomena

I watched three videos and as much of an interview as I could. She's kind of sadly disturbed.......or disturbingly sad........something like that. Poor kid.

Billie Eilish is speaking to this generation's teen girls, what is ironic is that her brother is the one primarily writing the songs and pulling the strings behind the scenes.

I hope so
She is. The layers of clothes, the nonchalant annoying attitude, etc. She's being marketed towards those gen Z kids who grew up on the Internet. As they grow up and mature, so will her image (if she lasts). I reckon we'll get the full blown pop star album in a few years.

She's from a bougie artsy family in LA, but she acts like she just stepped out of a time machine from prime early 2000s white FUBU culture. Definitely craves attention. But she does at least write some of her own stuff, can legitimately sing, and has a unique aesthetic - sort of like if Lana Del Rey made music on a cocktail of anti-psychotic meds that don't quite do the trick. I don't really mind her music. Also wouldn't be surprised if she's dead at 27

I mean I'm sure we would have expected half of this board to be dead at age 27 if we judged them by their behavior at 16/17 lol

More to do with huge fame at 17 coupled with obvious mental health issues and a family situation that doesn’t appear to be very helpful

Actually she is part of a generation raised on mobile devices where the world travels with you and you are connected 24/7, it seems this entire generation is holed up in their bedrooms fixated on their iPhones. In fact her entire first album was recorded in her brother's bedroom and it is a big theme in her live set.

In more homogenous Asian countries, you get this - https://www.nationalgeographic.com/culture/2019/07/asia-live-streaming-industry-creates-loneliness/

We'd only do it for porn, if we're voyeuristic

Your Party's political proclivities may bring it on eventually. Crash the economy, kill enough jobs, institute a UBI, and eventually disposable income and cost of living collide. We'll all essentially be living in tanks like Neo's pre-Morpheus existence.
