John Summa Invite: 11 teams ( Baldwin Wallace- 2, Ohio Northern- 5, Ohio Wesleyan- 6, Wilmington- 11)

One of the most important/ impressive situation is B dubs' Chad Craft. Defeating #19. Doster, Wabash in the 133# semis was impressive and isn't the first ranked opponent( John Carroll's Andrew Perelka, last year). He may not be in the line up for post season action, but next year will be bright with Nash being a senior. Craft medical forfeit to Nash in the finals. Next year will be bright for his teammate, Jack Stanley, who placed 3rd @125#. He lost to D2 #29. Corey Secrist in the semis.

@149 Stanley Bleich had no problems obtaining the title; @157 Nicholas Sbrocco place 4th, while upsetting Shaun Wagner, Ohio Northern 9- 4. Ryan Orr placed 5th @165, Lucas Salmon 2nd @174, Griffin Rathburn 5th @184, Matthew Werts 6th @197, Jarod Miller 5th @285 for the Yellow jackets. Zeckary Lehman won the 197# title by going through Wabash's roster, game of death style ( all 4 matches); if you dosed off, you would have thought he defeated Bye, Wabash in the 1st round.

Ohio Northern had 4 make the podium; Schuyler Caprella- 2nd @157, Bailey Gibson- 3rd@ 141, Aidan McAlexander- 5th@133, and Ben Deprest- 5th@197. Caprella( 34- 8) defeated Bryce Wittman( 27- 10), the #1. seed from Ohio Wesleyan 4- 1 in the semis; these gladiators met in the Ohio Northern Invite with Cappa winning 5- 2. 157 weight class is going to be heavy at Regionals.

Ohio Wesleyan's Wittman finished 5th after dropping the conso-semifinals. Other placewinners for the Bishops were Ryan McElwee- 6th@141, Caleb Blake- 6th@165, and Jaret Lowry- 5th@174.

Wilmington had 2 guys competing, Adrian Salomone @141 and Patrick Kelley @157. Just want to say, keep competing, keep motivation alive and keep ya head high.

Case Western Reserve had a positive and productive day hosting and defeating Defiance ( 27- 19) and Penn State Behrend( 53- 6). This brings their dual record up to 6- 8 for the year.

No action- Muskingum, Mount Union, Heidelberg, Mount Saint Joseph, Thomas More, John Carroll.

Otterbein went to the Whizzer Open, Sunday, in Michigan and got some work in with a couple of their guys. Joey Bradberry put some good work in capturing the 174# title; he is now 20- 5 for the year. Cole Jackson @133 and Jarod Setliff @197 both took 3rd. The Cardinals have a nice young roster to keep things moving after Kasper, Lasko, Bunsold graduate.

Lourdes University did wrestle Friday, defeating Rochester College 27- 16 for senior night. The team is young and talented, but Ray Porter will be tough to replace. Thursday's battle with Indiana Tech will be it before post season play, conference tournament jumps off.

Thanks Darth, as always, good read. One question, No Bradberry in top 8 at 174?? With a 20-5 record. placing at Wheaton Inv. and coming off a title last weekend I would think he might be ranked in top 8 of the region???? And I don't think Hornbuckle (MSJ) will ever see 125 again.

I'm still trying to see if Bradberry's teammate, Donny Didion is the starter. As for Hornbuckle, I'm wondering about next year ; what weight he will be if he's still growing. Jabari is done growing ( tapeworm).
