Ryan Day is an NFL OC. He is an excellent offensive mind, no doubt. In the NFL he can implement his offense without having to really coach in the sense that college coaches do.Ryan Day does need to do some soul searching about the direction of the program:
Does his pro style QB philosophy fit in CFB where success seems governed by a dual threat QB.
Strength and conditioning.
Special teams.
Michigan has beaten OSU over the last three years on little things. Their special teams are great, they do not turn the ball over, and they are VERY sound and physical on D. Jesse Minter is an excellent DC (as was McDonald before him). OSU got slightly better this year on D but Knowles cannot change his stripes. Missed tackles, out of position, read-react up front. OSU cannot get off the field on 3rd and 4th and short. At the end of the game when they needed a stop they stunk. Ryan Day will never be an elite college HC because he lacks the discipline to implement all of the little things that you need in order to be great. Tressel and Meyer "got it," Day not so much.
