I believe the OHSAA prefers fields with turf. Steele HS has a grass field.
I’m hoping for Strongsville.
I’m hoping for Strongsville.
They still have real grass, I believe. What about Amherst? I know they like to host. Not sure if its too far out
I actually meant Elyria. I see the game is at North Ridgeville. I may head up for that. They still have real grass, I believe.
Elyria is nice, but Ridgeville is very nice and equally distant from Avon and Falls. It is the perfect location.I actually meant Elyria. I see the game is at North Ridgeville. I may head up for that.
Highland wins this gameAnthony wayne.
Coaching and talent. Why is it that we always see the same teams playing eachother in the playoffs in this region? Year after year....
Monstermash is back! Welcome back. Highland definitely can win the game. I happen to see it as a toss up and I am a fan of AW’s Coach Brungard.Highland wins this game
Avon winning the region was pretty much known since July. Just like Ed's winning R1 and Hoban R5, and Massillon R7, etc... I could name more, but you get the idea.I’ll go with Avon and Highland
Strobel Field in Sandusky.Medina-Central Catholic was at Perkins last year but Perkins has already lost by third round. So where then?
Yes, agreed...but how does the talent alway bunch up into the same communities...Coaching and talent.
It doesn't. The great coaches develop the talent.Yes, agreed...but how does the talent alway bunch up into the same communities...
Yes, to a certain degree....but you still need tall, big, and natural talent to coach...It doesn't. The great coaches develop the talent.
Avon wins this easy. They sail to the regional finalAvon and Olmsted Falls is at North Ridgeville.
There’s talent in every community. Avon and Highland win every year because they have Programs (parent engagement, community participation, dedicated/disciplined kids and coaching).Coaching and talent.
Avon Lake was down this year and they got hit with a lot of key injuries too. It all added up to a very bad year by their standards.I am a little surprised at how Avon Lake folded so drastically last week at AW. That long drive to Toledo to a non friendly location can be very intimidating i guess....but 59 points is a big spanking....
Agreed. Kirtland, MSML, Coldwater, Privates dominating the public’s once it gets to the Sweet Sixteen level, etc…Avon winning the region was pretty much known since July. Just like Ed's winning R1 and Hoban R5, and Massillon R7, etc... I could name more, but you get the idea.
Add youth program development, tooThere’s talent in every community. Avon and Highland win every year because they have Programs (parent engagement, community participation, dedicated/disciplined kids and coaching).
Highland keeps rolling with a solid 31-10 win over Anthony Wayne. Avon advances with a tight 33-23 win over their always tough conference rival Olmsted Falls. We are now at the regional final! No upset special. Highland was tied at the half, but pulled away for a solid win. Falls outlasted Southview, while Avon and Anthony Wayne rolled. We are already on to the regional semifinals. Winners in bold:
5. Olmsted Falls (9-3) vs 1. Avon (12-0) -- The Eagles rolled in the regular season meeting. The playoffs should make it a closer game, but Avon moves ahead to the regional final.
3. Highland (10-2) vs 2. Anthony Wayne (10-2) -- This one should be worth the price of admission! A slugfest. Should be close all the way. The Generals outlast the Hornets.
Any predictions on the sites? North Ridgeville for Avon vs Olmsted Falls. Huron for Anthony Wayne vs Highland.
It stinks Avon had to face some adversity for the first time this season but hopefully this is something to build on going into next week with Nolan Good or not.Highland keeps rolling with a solid 31-10 win over Anthony Wayne. 3. Highland (11-2) vs 1. Avon (13-0) -- This one is going to depend a lot on the status of the Avon QB for the game. He was first team all-district and is a dual threat. The back up is not a runner and is obviously not as experienced. Falls is very familiar with Avon. Highland is not. Avon wins a close game without Nolan Good at QB, and wins by two scores with him.
Not the first time. They played the first playoff game entirely without Good.It stinks Avon had to face some adversity for the first time this season but hopefully this is something to build on going into next week with Nolan Good or not.
Well yeah the first half against SJJ was close. This one here Avon trailed at the half with only 3 on the board. Either way hopefully the Eagles can pull one out next week. Not the first time. They played the first playoff game entirely without Good.
Do we smell fear in that last sentence?Highland keeps rolling with a solid 31-10 win over Anthony Wayne. Avon advances with a tight 33-23 win over their always tough conference rival Olmsted Falls. We are now at the regional final!

Oh, when you get this deep in the playoffs you need all hands on deck. Not having an all-district 1st team QB makes you considerably less dangerous.Do we smell fear in that last sentence?
Do worry, they will patch him up and still put him on the field....Oh, when you get this deep in the playoffs you need all hands on deck. Not having an all-district 1st team QB makes you considerably less dangerous.
