Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

They don't ever really say, but given that he talks about leaving to go join the academy the next summer I always assume he was 17 going on 18.
Possibly.

We, as Americans, fall into that mentality that 17-18 is the age, but in many cultures a military aged male really is 14+, and with him being on a farm, no real schooling, that going to an academy could be earlier age than what we generally consider.

but yall are prolly right.......hes likely around 17-18

you'll be happy to know that Kevin Feige is working on a Star Wars movie (with the writer from the Loki show) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder) is also working on his own Star Wars movie.

Millie Bobbie Brown is also in talks with Lucasfilm about a Star Wars project. She's almost too old now (but can be made to look younger like in Stranger Things) but she'd be the perfect person to play a teenage Leia. I don't think that's what they are meeting with her about though.
And Jon Favreau was the showrunner on Mando which helped a lot. I had high expectations for Chow but maybe she was a little more untested and decided to play it too safe? The biggest miss though were allowing JJ Abrams full reign on the VII and IX, ugh.

Not a fan of Millie Bobbie Brown, she seems to one dimensional to me and doesn't have that "it" factor Carrie Fisher had when she was sporting those hair buns in A New Hope. Plus Millie is supposedly a huge pain to work with.

Too safe how? IMO there's a couple lines here and there I wish they would have added and I would have enjoyed more flashbacks, but IMO I enjoyed her directing and there was also some great cinematography in the show. Her episodes of The Mandalorian were also highly thought of (which got her the Kenobi gig) and she's also directed some Better Call Saul episodes among other things.

Some dubious classic SW touches she was all over were the bumbling bad guys easily getting killed and regurgitating themes like the big daddy character with a little kid on the run, folks are getting tired of this. But the big news starting to get out is Chow has been let go by Disney and was told they are good with another director for the next show to come off of this series. In particular some reports are saying it was Chow who pushed for and and reluctantly got the Reva story line more central than originally planned, how do you think this makes her look? Also the reports are she wanted even more Leia and less Luke, she wanted the Obi saying hi to Luke scene at the end to be the big plot reveal; the stuff in episode 1 was added at the strong suggestion of the primary SW creative team.

Stay tuned for some SW off camera drama because reports are saying that many on the SW creative team were very disappointed in the final Obi product...

Reva storyline did seem forced with her being so front and center, but as we know, it is all about diversity.
Theyve been pushing the female hero for awhile now, and just upped the ante with a black female.

They introduced a same sex kiss in one of the movies in the background, and before 2030 we will see a full fledged gay/trans/whatever as a main SW character.

Book it.

I was a year off. According to the Timeline of Galactic History (canon)on Wookiepedia, Luke and Leia were born 19 years before the battle of Yavin.

Aside from all that, I don't think you could have done a full season of just Vader and Anakin. That would make sense for a movie, but not for a show. There needed to be a side story whether it was Reva, something with Luke, etc. IMO 5 hours of Anakin and Vader would have become overkill, as great as their dynamic is.

Some SW boards on the 'net, also the youtuber Mike Zeroh is really pushing this as the truth. I have to admit none are very reliable at this point so maybe I should retract but in the SW Universe many of these do seem to become the truth. Let's wait and see.

The only things I've really heard so far is that Lucasfilm, Chow and the writers have all maintained that it was designed to be a limited series and that there's not current plans for a second season, but acknowledge that there are more stories to be told. And then Chow also mentioned in an interview a week or two ago (Entertainment Weekly I think?) that she was looking forward to taking a vacation.

Nothing I've come across at twitter hinting at any of this (not that I've gone looking for it either). In fact, there's actually a lot of fan praise for Chow on twitter.

I guess we shall see in the next 6 months or so because Disney will not allow this thing to flounder as a good chunk of subscriptions to Disney+ are for new SW content. Their ultimate nightmare is what is happening over at Netflix, they want to add subscriptions and not lose them.

well if they wanted an easy out they already have one. Everyone is already saying it was a limited series. This only becomes a topic of discussion if they go forward on a season 2 without her.

They will probably give it a new name as an easy out. My guess is if Favreau and company get a hold of this thing they will get more dark and less kid and adult on the run story line. Maybe explore parallel story lines of Anakin & Obi developing into the characters we see in a New Hope? Regardless I am not a fan of the cartoons so what I am really looking forward to is the upcoming Ahsoka and Bo-Katan stuff, that will be a lot of new live action ground with actresses that have some chops and can take ownership of a character beyond a supporting role.

see, I'm looking forward to the Ahsoka and Bo-Katan stuff BECAUSE I was a fan of Rebels (I liked Clone Wars, but there was a lot of filler IMO).

Really looking forward to us seeing a live action Ahsoka (more than the taste we've gotten), Sabine, Hera, Ezra and Thrawn. Ahsoka is one of my favorite Star Wars characters.

When I read your previous post I thought to myself. “ man it sounds like he’s regurgitating stuff Mike Zeroh would say” and sure enough you were. Mike Zeroh’s game is that he sucks in people like you who don’t like Disney etc etc by making up rumors you want to hear. He’s also skilled at playing up alleged differences between cast and cre

For example he’s claimed multiple times that Kathleen Kennedy has been fired. He’s also the man behind the rumors of the sequel trilogy being erased . Most recently he insisted that Mace Windu was going to appear in Kenobi. Needless to say he doesn’t know much and what he does know he usually stumbles on by pure luck.

He’s also the guy behind the George Lucas rumors. Zeroh had people convinced Lucas was in charge again and working on all these different projects, Shockingly absolutely none of it was true.

Vader wasn’t a public figure in the empire. Combine that with Tattoine’s isolation and it’s plausible.

Been rewatching Rebels. When Kanan and Ezra square off vs Vader, they had no idea who he was, and Kanan would have been alive during the Clone Wars and the height of Anakin’s “legacy” and the “birth” of Vader.

Even when they ask Ahsoka who they just fought, she didn’t know who Vader was other than that he was a Sith Lord (though she’s starting to put the pieces together).

This would have been probably 5 years after the events of Kenobi, so even then Vader wasn’t a “household name.”

Favreau stands head & shoulders above the rest of the modern Star Wars directors and it's not even close.

I thought Chow was one of the weaknesses of the Obi Wan series. Her directing was uninspired and lacked visual flair and the story telling was poorly constructed. At minimum she needs to get a lighting specialist as the scenes in the dessert between Obi Wan, Luke & 3rd Sister were to dark (literally to dark meaning not enough light) spoiling what should have been a far more impactful scene. How about put stars or moons in the night sky to cast a little light on the scene?

Abrams was an abomination and is a hack.

Over all I liked the season finale and the 2nd half of the Obi Wan series was better then the first half. Still if this thing ends here I won't be shedding any tears. As a limited series it would take it's place in the middle rung of Star Wars stuff - way below A New Hope, Empire, the Mandalorian, Clones & Rebels but way ahead of Abrams crap and the Jar Jar Binks trilogy. IMO of course.

I’d agree with the lighting in the finale. The Vader/Kenobi fight too. I adjusted our tv to its brightest setting and it was still a bit dark, though I can understand it a bit for the fight because of the cinematography they did with the lightsabers reflecting off of the face of Anakin/Vader as his voice changed back and forth.

I was going to mention the lighting too. Felt like I was watching GOT battle against the dead.

I actually like Disney but now that you called him out he is nothing but a troll and I should not trust his takes on the personnel status of SW product. He does have some correct takes though on what I see on the screen and some of the performances by the creative talent both in front of and behind the camera.

"It factor?" Carrie Fisher never carried a show in her whole life. She was Debbie Reynold's daughter and a party girl hollywood socialite. It was good for the career to be seen with her but not exchanging dialogue with her. She championed mental health off-screen that made her popular. She had done nothing before Star Wars, nothing after and was as replacable as any. Put those buns on a chihuahua and it would have done just as well.

Kinda cute, in a hide the prescriptions kind of way.

She had it in the Blues Brothers :)

It's humorous watching people question the dialogue in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and then watch videos of Alec Guiness, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford absolutely rip the dialogue from A New Hope apart, to George Lucas' face.
