Glad that softball is gaining in popularity and people are trying to make a pro league work but this one looks to be doomed for failure...

A new professional softball league that promises more than $1 million in compensation, long-term profit participation for players and a redesigned scoring system plans to launch in August.

Co-founded by Jon Patricof, former president of NYCFC in Major League Soccer, and Jonathan Soros, Athletes Unlimited hopes to succeed where other pro softball ventures have stalled in turning the sport's growing popularity at the youth and college levels into a profitable pro model.

If there is no tv deal it isn't going to work. And for the love of God stay away from FloSoftball. The college games they've streamed the last two weeks have been darn near unwatchable because the production values are so bad.

Having the teams in one location is an interesting idea though.

That will be interesting. They are really banking on the fans supporting individual players over devotion to a team. It worked in the NBA. Not sure it has really worked anywhere else outside of the individual sports. Also, the NBA didn't set out to do that, it was just something that happened. Maybe it will work with the star softball pitchers and maybe a couple of hitters. Personally, I don't think it will work.
