Moving Back to Remote Learning

 
And the children of Ohio can thank all of the citizens who ignored preventative measures so they could party, gather in large groups, go on vacations to covid hotspots, and selfishly put themselves before the welfare of their community. There was so much of a clamor to open everything up and everything was, with provisions on how to keep safe. What did we see? People flocking to bars and bar owners gladly disregarding safety procedures in order to get the last dollar. Cities, unwilling to crack down on the business offenders; sheriffs and officials deliberately disregarding the mask directives, even though they have worked before. It's not going to get better miraculously, society isn't going to return to normal, businesses are not going to profit until this virus is more under control. It's not difficult to understand. So, it's up to the citizens to take responsibility for themselves and their family members, something that we have not become accustomed to doing. Blaming everybody else has become the status quo, so we don't have to admit to shortcomings. You want to see a safe return to school and a return to student activities? We all do; there is no debate on this. So, for those who are more accustomed to blaming than preventing: suck it up, wash your hands, wear a mask, socially distance, give up that big party or Labor Day blowout, and think, so we can open up fully and everyone can benefit. That's my soapbox request.

Bingo Tom--and the Ohio GOP led by Zeltwanger, Vitale and their goof ball Columbus protesters ran out Dr.Acton who was clearly flattening the curve from March thru May--and then boom they had to "re-open" Ohio---they absolutely blew it!!

This is what happens when a government can't take care of its citizens during a national emergency and people are forced to work because they need money.

No one is saying that we need to totally stop the virus. We need to get it under control so we can move to Phase 3 of opening and not return to 1. So kids don't have to stay at home and try to learn. So that kids can once again return to the playing fields and any other school activity they like. We just can't open everything up unwisely, not after all that we have been through from March-June. As for your observation on futility, you are welcome to your view. I really don't care what they are as long as you wear a mask, socially distance,wash you hands, and not put yourself in a situation which can result in your getting the virus and spreading it to others. Good health to you and those in your life.

The old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is very applicable here. Social distancing and washing your hands, good nutrition, proper sleep, wearing a mask etc... are all things that do the same thing as a vaccine. If you don't get it, you don't spread it. Do you really not see where it has not been an exercise in futility?

Here we go another "underlying conditions" assigned COVID death---he looked damn healthy sitting in the front row in Tulsa and tweeting that "masks were not gonna be worn at the rally"---everyone who dies isn't old or has underlying conditions--that's your excuse for 150,000 being dead and now Herman joins that crowd. When someone young dies then it's about "risky in everything you do"---don't attend large indoor events, wear a mask, and wash your damn hands along with keeping social distance---I was very glad my Mom made it to 95 and Dad 88--people don't have to die at 75 if they make smart decisions!!

1. Why does everyone keep blaming bars? I have been to a few and also have some really close friends in the hospitality industry, they simply are NOT cramming people in there and packing them like everyone is claiming. Most are not even making ends meet due to the extra expenses associated with PPP, upgraded disinfecting and sanitizing procedures, lowered volume of customers due to social distancing requirements. Most are still hemorrhaging due to being shut down for months with already crazy-low profit margins.

You also say mask wearing has worked before, when was that?

The BLM and social justice protests far outweigh scattered protests for opening up. And ones like that which happened in Michigan resulted in no crimes or arrests. Great comparison

DeWine's press conference : he will request an emergency order to close liquor sales at 10, beginning tomorrow. The vast majority of new cases are due to social gatherings. He did state that many bars are doing a fine job, but too many are not. I would think it would be better to suspend the liquor license of any place that violates this to show the seriousness of his position. If you are doing your job correctly, you should not be penalized. For instance: Town Hall in Cleveland, which leads the county in violation reports. Make examples of them.

Okay, he's punted on the school question. Each district to make its own decision. Virus in the next few weeks will determine what schools look like "in the fall."He seems to think that school begins in a couple months, instead of a couple weeks.

Again, the notion of overcrowded bars is complete BS. There'd be footage all over documenting it. It's simply not happening.
