He's breaking the WR in very small increments of less than a inch. He has over 7 inches to go to get over 21 feet. I'll say no.Set a new World record again in the pole vault. He had plenty of clearance. Will he be the first over 21 feet?
If my ever-aging memory serves me correctly, top-line standards from a decade ago were rated for 6.40m (21'). I think they may have to up those to 6.70m (22'). Bar-level mounted cameras appeared to show what I considered to be all-too flexible support mounts for the crossbar pegs. As a design engineer, I would like to see something more substantial than what I observed.I was sitting in the sun with the Pole Vault right in front of me. His clearances were amazing. Incentives for records assure that he will continue to increase the record in small increments, but I think he could have smashed the record if financial incentives were set up differently. It wouldn't surprise me if in the next couple years, the major stadiums will need to get new standards for the pole vault. He's not far from maxing them out now.
