Moeller Class of 2026

It is not at all about pride in a JV record. My point is that if there probably will not be 3 left of your top players when this class is seniors. Its not a common situation at Moeller by any means but I am just pointing out that is the case with this class. I guess another question would be when was the last time Moeller only had 9 kids on the JV roster ? Also I know have they reached out to juniors who chose to not play this year to ask them if they would come play JV. I agree with the point of needing 3 in each class to be successful and smaller schools that number can be 2 per class.

I bet they'll have a few freshmen who will play JV because they're pretty good players. And 22 is way too many for two freshman teams. Probably better to have 16-18 for the sake of playing time. Highly doubtful that #19 would have turned out to be a varsity player anyway.

Not sure people have noticed, but Moe is starting to dominate much of the GCL sports landscape. I have a feeling, even if they have a down year, it will still be enough to compete for the GCL title. They, along with St X, are in a position to get the most talent year in and year out.

I agree with that. I guess my thought with the 2 freshman team system is to have 2 teams of ten and let them play equal number of games. I never understood the idea of dressing 20 kids in a game for the A team and letting everyone play. If you have 2 teams divide them how you want but dress 10 per game and let those kids play. Schedule the competition accordingly to how good you are and not to win more games but for everyone to have competitive games instead of blowouts. I said this last year that in their system the top kids ( who most likely will play in the future ) probably got the least total minutes due to blowing out teams and sometimes would maybe only play 10 minutes a game. The players on team B could play half of team A games and all of team B games. It just didnt make sense to me but that is just my opinion. I know at freshman level it is not about winning but getting better as players and team. Moellers System has worked for them for years and I and sure will continue to work. This is one class only that may not turn out like they had hoped. They will reload and move on. But I also do not blame kids who do not like the system for transferring where they may be happy and get to play more. There are plenty of kids around the city who have left Moeller and are succeeding at other schools because it didnt fit for them. Of course with as many transfers that happen today in basketball it is not a surprise for anyone to move on.

I also agree with doublehelix that they are in a great run with almost all sports right now. Coming off of this fall season with soccer and football has been great.

With 20 Freshman or more, Moeller shouldn’t be seeking Jrs to Play JV. It’s legal but weak imo! That’s about as embarrassing as St. X Football Playing most of their Lineman Both ways for damn near entire Game. Schools like those I find that crap just unnecessary.

These guys should be in their own divisions in HS anyways. Teams that hand pick their players and athletes over others that don't. If they do not make a state final four, it should be considered a failure each sport season.

I agree with that opinion on the public/ private debate. Until they can get enough support to change it that will always be the case. I dont know about the failure part just because there are so many private schools anymore , especially at D1 , they all cant make it. The other thing is that the way basketball is in Cincinnati right now with all the AAU coaches getting jobs they all know how to play the rules and get transfers. Look at how many kids in Cincy at all levels change schools often and somehow are always eligible. There are a few who sit out the second half of season but most find a loophole.
