Kentucky Basketball

There was one aspect of strategy Thad might have been the best. He was killer on set out of bounds throw-in plays, especially under the basket. The Buckeyes were money every time.
Helps when you have great athletes. The 2012 final 4 against Kansas was one of the biggest coaching blunders/chokes jobs I’ve ever seen.

By the record this is true. But they have only played twice in the modern era of the NCAA tournament. In 1987 and 2011 and split those games. OSU has owned the regular season matchups since 2015. This is one of those matchups that should be annual but for some reason they don't play except for Champions Classic or NCAA. Since 1980 they have played 9 times and the series is UK 5 OSU 4
Why should it be annual? Kentucky is a blue blood and OSU isn’t. There isn’t any kind of allure there from a national perspective. I will say that their fanbase absolutely hates OSU much more than OSU hates them and that goes for basketball as well.

Border state, B1G vs SEC, and alot of fan crossover, plus I think it would be a good game is why I think they should play annually.

What is everyones thoughts on the Alabama game on Saturday? The Miss St and TXA&M games have given me some confidence going in. We have shown some toughness on defense and rebounding that should pay off. I see it being like the FL game where both teams play well and the score will be both teams in the 90-100.

Both teams like to get out and run, as long the Cats limit Alabama on offensive rebounds (easy put backs) they’ll be fine. I still expect Alabama to win but not in a blowout

UK goes as the 3's fall. I do like the toughness I've seen and the willingness to attack the rim the last couple of games. Still want to see them willing to get dirty, yet to see anyone go to the floor after a loose ball. They can play d when they want to, but it's still a work in progress and is inconsistent at best. Not gonna complain about 14-3 with 5 wins over top 15 teams. SEC is a meat grinder, they will probably lose 5 more games, but not this one. Being at home, I think UK wins this one. Let Sears get his and don't let anyone else beat you. Cats 99-92.

Bringing this back to the top for my UK hoops fans. It can be officially considered a great season regardless of how Friday goes. From zero returning players on the roster, to a 20+ win regular season, top half of the SEC, some huge wins over some really good teams and now returning to the 2nd weekend of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019, they have checked all the boxes I felt would make this season a good one. Mark Pope has restored an exciting brand of basketball back in Lexington after earning his first NCAA tournament win and now first sweet 16 appearance.

I agree, there is a joy in the fan base that has not been around since 2021. The Head Coach and fan base don't hate each other and these players genuinely love the program and fans. I have also liked watching this team grow and change over the season. If you would have told me Colin Chandler plays 18 minutes in the second round of the NCAAs a month ago, I would have said we lost by 10 or more. This has been a cathartic for BBN and I hate that it is almost over. I hope Chandler, Oweh, Garrison, Perry, and Noah all come back and provide some continuity for next season. Happy for Pope to have this success and looking forward to what he can do with the rest of his time at UK.

I am pumped for the game tonight. I think we win and play Houston for a chance to go to the Final 4. Fun season with this group and pumped to see how far we can get.

Do not have a good feeling, but those feelings have worked out positively before. Just beating a team 3 times in a year is really tough. Beating a really good team 3 times seems highly unlikely. We'll see. My bracket says Tennessee, but my bracket can eff off. I'll be happy if my bracket would take a big hit (detrimental for my chance to win) for a chance at another final 4.

I think as long as we hit, or close to, our averages offensively we will win. They can't score with us. That doesn't mean we can't lose but I just think we are playing with house money and will play loose and free. Think about it, they hit 11 3s against UCLA and only scored 67 points.

Rick Barnes teams historically struggle at times to score the ball. Lanier and Ziegler can get hot. My big concern is the UK defense has brought out the best in average shooting teams this year. With the game being at Lucas Oil, it can throw shooters off, if they aren't 40+% from deep, it may not be enough.

TN could get hot, but our defense has been better since the Ole Miss game mid season. Also with Butler playing I think he can limit Lanier or Ziegler, whichever they put him on.

Valid point. D has been better. Specifically the last month or so.

I’m always paranoid in these games, the last the Cats beat UT, the Vols had like 73% of their shots uncontested. Tennessee has struggled to score the previous two games so as long as the Cats keep up on offense I like the chances.

A little life there at the end but the offense is stagnant. Offensive rebounds are killing them leading to a ton of 2nd chance points.

The Vols were just the better team last night, hit around 50% in the 1st half and stopped UK anytime they tried to make a play in the 2nd. Not much to say.

Rebounding killed us (Allowed 14 rebounds), TN took m ore shots than us(Which is insane), and we never were able to get the offense flowing. I was somewhat stunned that we couldn't seem to figure out anything offensively. They were switching everything and playing us like Auburn did and we got pushed around.
