Is Anyone Really Surprised By This?

 
Just sad all around….glad my boys are grown and my coaching days over…I know a few quality coaches and referees who have bagged it due to crazy, delusional parents and thug behavior. All parties are usually to blame..bad programs, nutty parents and tournament directors who only care about making quick easy $$.
 
IMO, part of the problem is that these tournaments are being run to maximize profits. They don't think about what is best for the basketball community, rather, they think how can I move the most people through this tiny area in the quickest way possible to generate more money. This video is filled with people moving every which way. The officials are sitting ducks for the craziest players, fans, and coaches.

I'm sure this team will be able to find another tournament this coming weekend if they have the money to pay the entrance fee.
 
We went to a tourney at Spooky Nook in Hamilton (SW Ohio) this summer and the security was great. They tossed several parents and a coach during the tourney and the message was clear- F around and find out. Refs said they loved the venue because of the management of unruly fans/coaches.

My son coached an 8th grade team there this Spring and said the same…well run…no tolerance for BS..maybe this will start a standard? I passed the original Spooky Nook in Lancaster, PA twice this week👍
