OMany many years ago when I was a young boy of 4 or 5 my Grandfather told me about the sure fire way to catch a bird in the yard, park, wherever. Simply put, he gave me a salt shaker and explained that all I had to do was sneak up on it and sprinkle some salt on its wings.......because birds can't fly away with salted wings. He promised me that I could keep everyone that I caught.
I've since shared that technique throughout time with our children and their friends, and now our grandchildren and their friends. 60 years later it's fun to watch kids with salt shakers sneaking up on birds.
