Less than 3 weeks until the season begins! Very excited about the 2019 Bulldogs. 2018 was a bad year for Green, no way around it, but things are changing in Bulldog country and there are several reasons to be optimistic about this season.

First, the schedule is much more manageable. In 2018 Green played 8 teams with winning records and only had 4 games at home. Fantastic 50 ranked it as the 2nd hardest in all of D2 and 11th hardest in the state. This year, Green starts off with Firestone and Brecksville who had 4 combined wins last year, and has 7 home games. Highland and Riverside aren't on the schedule anymore, and the rivalry game with Lake is at home.

Last year, Green also had terrible luck with injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball. All starting linebackers missed the last 4 games, and the two best players on the 2017 team played a combined 3 games last year. This year, the lines are bigger and more experienced, which should control the line of scrimmage and keep the defense off the field. There were games last year where 10 starters were hurt. Fortunately, backups got valuable playing time and this year's team is stronger and will be able to physically compete with the teams on the schedule.

The sophomores have not lost a game for three straight years. They are big, athletic, and have a tradition of winning. Green will be young this year, but that means there are plenty of chances for playing time and development for the talented young players.

There is a new coaching staff this year, and the Bulldogs will look different on both sides of the ball. Last year there were way too many penalties and the play calling was predictable. I believe both of those issues will be addressed by the new coaches. Yes, Green has had five straight losing seasons, but the low expectations of the last few years are changing. Many of the players and most of the coaches have spent the last several years winning games and are ready to build a new culture in Green.

I believe the Bulldogs are going to surprise people in 2019. 20 more days until the first game. LETS GO DOGS!

Hope you are right, Bull, and that you are not full of yourself. Would love to see Green get back to playing some hard-nosed ball and mash it at people. Haven't seen or heard much about them too much since they used to play Garfield back in mid-2000s for about 6 or 7 years. Good Luck to the Bulldogs.
