Franklin HS Impressive

Just a quick tip of my cap to an impressive group of young men, who represent themselves, their parents, coach Mark Fleetwood and their school with great actions. The Wildcats are not going to win the Southwestern Buckeye League title, or likely even most of their games this season, but they remain the best team I have seen all year. During a 2 game stretch against league opponent Oakwood, a team I cover for a local newspaper, the Wildcats were outscored significantly by the Lumberjacks.

But the score is not the important part of this story.

Not once, literally not one time during 160 minutes of play, did the Wildcats stop hustling, stop trying to to play the game the right way, or and maybe this is most important, commit a single hard or questionable foul out of frustration at the scoreboard.

Their actions were as collectively impressive as any I have seen at a high school sporting event in a very long time.

Thank you for your effort, your sportsmanship, your ability to understand what is important in hs sport.

May your end of season banquet see you celebrated as a greatly successful.

Centerville just played the Franklin Wildcats in the first round of the tournament. The Centerville players were impressed with the effort, determination, and positive attitudes of the Franklin players. They never gave up and were just all-around nice guys. Best of luck to Franklin and the future of their soccer program!
