Final scores 10-23

St. Ignatius 5
Lincoln-West 0

Not as bad as I would have thought. Son's team played them in a scrimmage this preseason - pretty talented team, but not to the level of the top level teams.

North Royalton won 3-2 over St. Ed's, setting up what seems to be an annual tradition of getting beat by Iggy's every year in the District finals.

Medina 4
Akron Firestone 0

Copley 2
Archbishop Hoban 1 (2 OT)

Avon 3
Amherst Steele 0

Avon Lake 3
Strongsville 1

Medina beat them early in the season (first or second game, I believe), 3-1. I would be shocked if the playoff result is any different.

The only upsets, at least seed-wise, in the northeast district were the Avon Lake win (#3 beating #2) and also Shaker Hts (#4) beating Eastlake North (#1) as well. I suspect the #1 seed for North was a little inflated - doesn't look like their schedule included a real quality win on it.

Medina for sure

I saw that Eastlake North was the 1 seed..... looks a little odd.

Though there was probably some pretty tight voting in that district

Sour grapes says, Strongsville had two goals called back from highly questionable off sides calls from one linesman unable to run....so tired of these refs which cannot move or choose not to. How can OHSAA fix the problem? Fast breaks and plays and sideline and endline runs are key part of the game..it is amazing to me how often they get them wrong because their vantage point dictates a guess. Good luck to all

I think unfortunately OHSAA has a hard enough time getting refs to staff all the games, so anyone who gets certified gets games. You'd like to hope that as the playoffs move along, the better refs are getting these games, but I've seen way too many overweight, out of shape ARs struggling to keep up (or flat out not caring) with the last defender.
