Well-known member
For those that don't know, Tony Waldrop was a 3:53.2 miler @ the '74 Penn Relays, then the #5 performer in history. He also set the world indoor record with a 3:55.0 during the '74 indoor season in San Diego. His Ohio connection was with his North Carolina Tar Heel teammate, Reggie McAfee (Cincinnati Courter Tech, '62), who also became the 1st black American to run sub-4:00 in 1973. Waldrop's 3:55.0 remained the collegiate indoor record for 35 years!!!
