So what did Myles do that was so special? You think teams don’t game plan to avoid and minimize TJ? 14 stats listed Myles bests Watt on one of them. It's not always about stats, especially when it comes to defensive players.
Nobody's ever going to compare stats between cornerbacks, for example, because everyone knows the best CBs in the league rarely get thrown at.
I said nothing against TJ. He's one of the top 3 or 4 edge rushers in the league, along with Myles (and Parsons and Bosa). So what did Myles do that was so special. You think teams don’t game plan to avoid and minimize TJ?
I understand not upset with you. Just trying to understand the criteria.I said nothing against TJ. He's one of the top 3 or 4 edge rushers in the league, along with Myles (and Parsons and Bosa).
Honestly, it's splitting hairs when it comes to most of these awards.
It's voting by sportswriters - I doubt they have much for criteria aside from who they think was best this year. I'm sure they're not poring over stats.I understand not upset with you. Just trying to understand the criteria.
Watt is more of an OLB type. A mostly stand up player, which minimizes tangling with offensive linemen more than Garrett. Myles is far more hand in the dirt, line of scrimmage. That’s a taller task. Not to minimize Watt at all, in fact…I would give it to him over Garrett this year, but Myles does play a more difficult position when it comes to generating numbers.I understand not upset with you. Just trying to understand the criteria.
I would think if it’s sportswriters who have rarely seen much either player that list of defensive stats above would be the first thing they would reference to select a DPOY.It's voting by sportswriters - I doubt they have much for criteria aside from who they think was best this year.
