Do Communists on Yappi believe in FREE SPEECH?

Free speech, historically, gets attacked by extreme political movements at either end of the spectrum. Fascists, commies. At the moment, in the US, there are some well-educated people on the left who seem to be skeptical of its importance/value. They‘re wrong, of course. Book banning, an off shoot of free speech issues…that’s a current favorite of the right.

So what books are being banned by the ”right”? Those books that promote LGBT lifestyle that just so happen to target children. In general and in normal times very few Americans are for banning books.. current times are not normal however.

Ahh yes, the book banning myth. People on the right are not at all into book banning; we are, however, against pornographic and age-inappropriate books being made available to children in K-6, especially without parental consent. Ease up on contributing to the misinformation.

I think both are…

A lot of the fuel against so called Critical Race Theory teaching (which I think is flawed in many ways) is a desire to keep literary and intellectual content away from my smart kids…difficult historic concepts that I want them to wrestle with…knowing there are no simple answers and history is complicated.

That‘s wholesale book banning in my view…

stop it with the book banning.... you can't like books where 4 th graders read about oral sex, can you? those are the books that should NEVER be on a shelf in a school

“Be not intimidated...nor suffer yourselves to be wheedled out of your liberties by any pretense of politeness, delicacy, or decency. These, as they are often used, are but three different names for hypocrisy, chicanery and cowardice.”

― John Adams

I don’t know…who are the communists?
I think the better question is what would our forefathers have done if social media was around when they wrote the constitution? Can free speech survive in a world of BOTs and deliberate deception? What would John Adams and Thomas Jefferson think about “alternative facts”?

Good question ... not sure. This much I do know, they would not have the government infringe on the rights of the private sector to make their own policies on the basis of some fake free speech argument.

Adams and Jefferson frequently accused the other of "alternative facts."

And there's your problem. You are looking for the perfect President. News flash, they don't exist. You'll never be happy. Stop trying.
There’s no perfect President but W was awful. Him going into Iraq was far worse than anything Trump has done.

No fan of either Bush but you sound like you may have lost a camel in the conflict.

W is worse than Trump. Bush Sr wasn’t a good President, but an honorable person.

Trump is the best thing that ever happened to W. Both were far more honorable. Absolutely disastrous decision in hindsight but one pushed for and pressured by almost all of his constituents, and fewer but many dems also.
