D7 R25 2023

Not saying they are ducking them, just that it has never worked out besides the one year in 20, but covid.
These are "football porn" games for fans like us, but (don't drop your phone when you read this) schools don't make schedules for us. I know, I know, the world would be a better place if they did, but it's true. Hopefully, one of the unintended consequences of the money-grab playoff expansion is more teams/schools take a chance and play some "Really?!?!?" games. In Wayne Co Norwayne has been doing it for a few years now and @CasualFan24 's Bulldogs are doing it with Kirtland & Moggy this fall.

That said, not sure Lucas & Trimble would ever be in the top 100 of the "there's no way they'd schedule them" list.

It's really surprising with Lucas being independent that we haven't seem them play some games against teams like this....the fact that borderline D1/2 schools have called Dalton about the week 2 opening is laughable

And that's not dogging on Lucas' scheduling - they definitely don't run from teams and play a tough schedule every year...
Yup. Couple years ago Lucas played D2 Lakewood (and beat 'em). I'm the first one to mock weak schedules for schools I follow (looking at your Fairless!), but the amount of chickanery that goes on at the larger schools is hilarious & sad.

We usually will play anyone. I don't think the size of the school matters, we played D3 Cincinnati Woodward last year. Maybe Lucas called when the schedule was full.
The size matters....I'll let the cat out of the bag...Uniontown Green called Dalton....like come on now, you have more kids in 1 class than Dalton does 9-12.

Maybe the wanted to start the "Mennonite Bowl"? They could rotate games between Dalton & Waynedale and have their soccer team play Hiland on Thursday or Saturday. Meals catered by Hartville Kitchen, Dutch Kitchen, or Boyd & Wurthmann?

I don't believe what I'm reading here...

Lot of factors go into scheduling. Especially home and away splits. AD's want those 5 gates so they can fund the athletic department. I know some schools who will give up a home gate in the regular season because they anticipate hosting a playoff game or two. Which I know, they don't get ticket revenue, but it can help your boosters, and other programs out with more people.
