Cincinnati City Records

We might have an addition this summer in the girls' hammer throw if Kings' Samaria Newton keeps improving. With her 139' 10" this season as a sophomore, she is only 4' 8" from taking the record from 2013 Western Brown grad, Lauren Stacy. Very good chance she'll get it.

I have updated the girls city records to reflect what Serena Clark ran in Cuba last Saturday. My advisers (lane4 and JAVMAN) tell me that time has to count as the record. She lowered her city record from 11.72 to 11.68. The stage is set for this weekend in North Carolina at the National Championships for the top two sprinters in the history of Cincinnati to square off against each other with a national championship on the line. Will the city record go lower and will the wind not cooperate.

As an FYI, Craig Whitmore included all marks made by HS athletes, regardless whether against other HSers or not, in his record-keeping under the Ohio Track & Field publication.

Craig was my inspiration to get involved in this work. He butted heads more than once with the Big Wigs in the OHSAA office about the right way to list track and field statistics.

I wished I'd met him. Would have loved to been a fly-on-the-wall during those "discussions". :D
