Chronicles Of The 2024 Presidential Election Part 2

With Americans less optimistic about the state of the U.S. economy than they have been in recent months and concern about inflation persisting, their confidence in President Joe Biden to recommend or do the right thing for the economy is among the lowest Gallup has measured for any president since 2001.

Forty-six percent of U.S. adults say they have "a great deal" or "a fair amount" of confidence in Trump to do or recommend the right thing for the economy, while fewer say the same of Biden (38%), Powell (39%), and Democratic (38%) and Republican (36%) leaders in Congress.

Biden's subpar rating could have significant electoral implications as not only does he have the lowest economic rating of any president seeking reelection since Gallup began tracking this in 2001, but independents trust his opponent more than him.

I could see situations where debating could hurt both candidates. Trump's anger or Biden's frailty showing through. Yet would a debate 23 days before the election change the outcome given early voting would have been going on for six weeks?

That is the rub . Trump is not a conservative. He is a populist who stumbled upon two issues that resonate (border and smaller government) along with a catchy slogan. Unfortunately voters who are conservative can only hold their nose and vote against Team Biden.
His policy is right out of the conservative handbook.

Glad you agree Trump is lying about a stolen election.

The only lie is claiming it wasnt.

Early voting starts in 120 days. I would expect to see GOP voter registration campaigns and activity to hire operatives to actively and legally harvest mail in ballots. My real point is that Democrats work 24/7 to win elections.
I don't get the hard on for early voting. "Republicans must embrace early voting"
What difference does it make if the vote is cast now or in November?

All current world leaders have low approval rates...thank god he is running against the sleep farting nut job on trial for splooging in a porn star while his wife was home with his baby.
What does that have to do with running a country? Nothing...OK just checking.

Happy voted twice for Clinton but now is a prude 😂

Haley pulling twenty two percent of the vote when she’s been out of the race for months. Just goes to further illuminate that Trump has a major suburban voter problem.

How does Trump go about mitigating this?
A) is Indiana an open primary i.e. Dems can vote for the Republican nominee?

B) a protest vote in a primary has little to do with voting in the general election i.e. may not love Trump but they sure aren't voting for Biden.

Which is why early voting is a disgrace. Alot can happen between when a vote is cast and election day.

I’ve never voted early. The only downside of waiting til November is the chance of weather issue or personal family issue that keeps me away from the polls. Also, and maybe it’s just me, I’d worry that my vote was lost in the mail, misplaced, not counted for some reason.

My angst about the GOP and the new election paradigm is not the early voting itself, but rather the Republicans seemingly being unwilling to take advantage of means to identify, register, and insure sympathetic voters receive ballots and that those ballots are returned. In other words, legal harvesting of votes. Democrats have it down to a science, the GOP not so much. I have read that Republicans in 2020 and 2022 won the in person election day voting. They failed miserably with the estimated 40%+ of ballots that were "early or mail in" votes.

You would have been really pissed if you were in one of these states where they tried to not count the votes and and use fake electors instead.

Trump is campaigning on the issues of the border, taxes, and crime. Indeed the Republican play book. I will vote for him on those issues over Biden in a heartbeat. Yet it is my opinion, Trump's motives are more about self aggrandizement rather than true conservative convictions. Sometimes the enemy of your enemy is indeed your friend.
