So the application process closes today... Who applied? Did that lance guy? He is clueless and would set the program back 30 years...I hope he didn't apply!
 
 
The Ellet program is going downhill without Fisher. I haven't heard word yet but I witnessed Lance coach baseball at Buchtel and it was a joke. I can only assume the same with Ellet basketball. If anybody was right for the job I would think it would be Merring.
 
Heard they interviewed for the head Basketball Coach position on friday. Has a coach been picked? It better be Fisher.....the system is screwed up if they dont give him back the position!

A coach that is harsh and critical?? Oh no...that sounds terrible. How will those players survive? They might actually have to work hard, execcute, listen and be respectful young men.

If anyone dosen't like to be yelled at or criticized, they can hit the bricks!

Not official until approved by the Board on Monday night. I heard there could be some desent amongst the Board members on this hired (rehire).

I would love to know why! If that's the case, there is more to the contract not being renewed months back than just some agenda by an outgoing principal.
Puzzling to say the least, on the surface Mark Fisher has been nothing but positive for Ellet basketball.
 
TRUST AND BELIEVE

tell Coach Fischer to stop recruiting kids from outside his area (Ellet) and the problem will be solved. The Ellet community does not want to see outsiders come in and their home grown kids go to the bench. Plus the community does alot for the athletic programs as long as Ellet grown kids are playing. :thumb:

Coach Fisher DOES NOT recuit any players!!!! You are misinformed!!! He teaches in the Akron Public School district and some of his students went to Ellet to play. Most of them went to Ellet BEFORE he was even the coach. It is not his problem that the parents of the kids being talked about wanted their kids to go to Ellet.

As for the Ellet community....one would think that they would want "the best 5 on the floor"........that means sometimes "sweet little Johnny" will sit the bench even if "sweet little Johnny" always played because Mommy and Daddy was his coach or Mommy and Daddy's friend coached him his whole life!!!! This is HS basketball not rec league......time to grow up and be glad that maybe Ellet has a coach who will play the 5 best! Good Luck coach Fisher, glad you are back!

So your telling me he does not play favorites? But his 5'6 son started point guard over every one on the team? Including the german who had way more speed, quickness, court vision, finishing ablit, etc. But little johnny does not get to play? I find it funny how his kid also starts over a 6'4 Jake Williams that has a way better set of Qb tools than his son does. I'ts funny how this happens.......Or is it just me? Your also crazy if you think he does not recruit kids! You think a Daemond Griffin would really come to ellet cause he likes it? BE REAL!

your right he does not recruit. By the way how many athletes in the 9th and 10th grade are from the Goodrich-Roswell Kent area at Ellet? More then you think. And more then in the past years amazing. And while these athletes come in and play, the Ellet kid that grew up there and has lived there his whole life is sitting the bench. By the way I am an Ellet Alum (Metro League era). :thumb:

Anonymous35....maybe you should actually go to a game....the german and Jake Fisher started together, and as Paid Talent said, the german was no good at all!!! Very over-rated! As far as Ellet players playing...well I dont think Germany is part of ellet....and Jake Fisher was born and raised in Ellet...he is an Ellet player...also he is not 5'6'', try 5'10.....he was the best ball handler on the team! As for Deamond, from what I hear, he was signed up to open enroll to Ellet BEFORE Fisher ever became coach.

Now you bring up football. didn't know Mark Fisher was a football coach. Thats right he is not! He has no say in who is QB. From what I hear, Jake Fisher is a better QB than Williams...its that simple!

Maybe all the Ellet babies should stop crying about not playing and work on their skills! Ellet should be glad that Akron has open enrollment and kids are coming here. Maybe they can actually win a few games. I said it before and I will say it again..."I am glad they finally hired a coach that will put the 5 best players on the court" I dont care if they are from Mars....if they go to Ellet and are the best...then they should play!

Who cares if he tries to get kids to come to Ellet to play, it's been going on in the City Series for years. Ellet should be glad they have a coach who cares enough to want to compete and win.

Like the westsiders say, "As long as the paperwork is in order....!"

I think Williams is a way better passer, but I don't know about his decision making skills. Also, I think Fisher is a better runner and that seems to be Ellet's game plan this year.
