Final Comments:
Team Strengths:
1. Experience: We return 8 full time starters off a state semifinals team.
2. Offense: We expect to have a solid lineup 1-9 with several guys with above average speed and others who should drive them in with gap to gap power.
3. Depth: We return a large part of the 2021 lineup, but also have some really good younger players who will see significant time and contribute in a lot of ways.
4. Defense: The 2021 team was as good defensively as any team since I have been coaching at Barnesville. The outfield made plays all year that saved a lot of runs (especially in the tournament) and the infield committed very few errors.

Team Weaknesses:
1. Pitching Experience: While we feel really good about Kason and Gavin who were integral pats of the 2021 staff, the guys pitching behind them in the rotation and in relief don’t have a lot of varsity experience on the mound. They have the potential to be really good pitchers and we know they will throw strikes so if we continue to play defense behind them they will have success.

Summary:
We must avoid complacency, which we have thus far through practice. The 2021 team was able to surprise teams early and gain confidence as they were gaining experience. Our opponents this season, knowing how many people we return, will not take us lightly so we will have to play our best every game. We have high expectations for the season and if we stay focused we have the potential to win many games and compete with everyone on our schedule.
