Numerous mistakes in this article, unfortunately. I've sent corrections to Mr. Gay at the Dispatch.

3:15pm - 100 yards (not 100 meters) - 9.4 record-equalling

3:25pm - Broad Jump (as it was known then) - 8.13 meters (26' 8 1/4")

3:35pm - 220 yard dash (straightaway) - 20.3
200 meter (enroute - unofficial)

4pm - 220 yard LH (30") - run on a straightaway, not around the turn - 22.6
200 meter LH (enroute - unofficial)

Here's a copy of the LA Times article from 1985 detailing that magnificent 45 minutes

I have a friend who was there. He is 100 years old and was the last Jew in his class at the time of his departure from Nazi Germany. Jesse Owens is one of his heroes, and Doc Miller is one of mine. At the age of 89, he ran a 5k in the 30 minute range and played tennis til the age of 93.If you ever get a chance to hear him speak, do it.
