2024 WBL talk

Those alleged injuries were real one getting x-rays the others

no pass defense
Hey bro. 43% completion %, same TD and INT as your team, and 8 more YPG. 2nd in the WBL. Don't make dumb claims now

Yhea but i continually get you to amuse me monkey boy
These are discussion forums. The entire purpose is to post and reply.

To my original post, I said that the alleged Wapak injures had no effect on the game. In the lead up to the games this week, you mentioned different injuries that Wapak was working through. In the WBL Predictions Week 8 thread, you said this:
The Wapak game could be closer than some think injuries to some key players

You weren't the only one who mentioned Wapak injuries. WBLGuy did too, but there wasn't really any real identification in that thread of what the injuries were, the extent of them, who all was impacted, etc. My postgame comment was simply saying that Wapak rolled to a running clock regardless. It was perhaps poor word choice on my end to say the injuries had "no effect," but I wasn't saying those injuries weren't real. That's not what alleged means. I was saying the apparent injuries y'all were discussing didn't seem to factor into the game as heavily as some folks thought they might. The Wapak offense was still precise, explosive, and dominant while their defense did exactly what you'd expect to the worst offense in the WBL; they shut them out. Wapak is at the top of the league standings and Elida is at the bottom. This game went exactly the way most expected it to. That's really all I was saying before you decided to get your panties in a bunch.

Yhea on paper it looks real good but you go back to a lot of points that has been scored on Wapak is late in the 4th quarter when we have in our reserves and I think riders have a good defense but there Achilles right now is the pass game

I'm very pessimistic about Wapak and never overlook any team. We have several starters they have had X-rays and mri the last week so Yhea I don't get to cocky and expect a blown out every week. This is a great group of kids this year and I hope they all get the chance to compete as long as they can

The only “real” passing attack in the WBL is surprisingly the one dialed up by the Skin’s, in which you saw your precious riders get picked apart. Kenton isn’t the Kenton of old, bath is okay but i see them as fools gold, and everyone else only throws when they absolutely must. Wapak throws it because they CAN. When you see a high powered pass offense in the playoffs you will see the same result as the Wapak game.

Didn't happen against Perkins last year. Their vaunted pass offense didn't get off the ground for very much and that Riders team started 0-4. But hey, Riders had a few coverage busts against "the only real pass attack in the WBL". I could make some equally dumb remark like "You guys can't stop an inside run, and when you run into a real bruising back with enough of a Pass O to mean anything you're going to get destroyed".

Wait, didn’t St. Marys lose to Perkins last year?

Perkins went 14-18 for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, all three touchdowns being more than 15 yard passes. 2 of their incompletions were interceptions, but even still giving that many long TD passes up is not coverage busts, it’s simply bad coverage.

2 INT is enough to win the game 🤷

Not saying the Riders have some elite pass D. What I am saying is it's ridiculous to say the riders play "zero pass D", when they've done enough to win games and statistically are just fine (even when Rider opponents get to "hold" us to 0 pass yards, lowering their averages).

As we're entering Week 9, the playoff picture is starting to come into focus. I'm just going off of the Fantastic 50 predictions, so this is all in good fun and speculation, but it looks like 7 WBL teams will be in playoff contention.

Defiance projected as #6 seed (6-4) in D3 R10, most likely first round opponent is Midview

Wapak projected as #2 seed (10-0) in D3 R12, most likely first round opponent is Celina
St Marys projected as #8 seed (8-2) in D3 R12, most likely first round opponent is Miami Trace
Celina projected as #15 seed (5-5) in D3 R12, most likely first round opponent is Wapak

Ottawa-Glandorf projected as #11 seed (5-5) in D4 R14, most likely first round opponent is Clyde
Van Wert projected as #16 seed (4-6) in D4 R14, most likely first round opponent is Perkins

Bath projected as #9 seed (5-5) in D5 R20, most likely first round opponent is Miami East

Kenton (3-7), Elida (2-8), and Shawnee (2-8) are projected OUT of the playoffs. Interestingly though, the week 10 Elida @ Van Wert game could essentially be a play-in game. F50 right now has VW winning that and earning the #16 seed. If Elida were to win, F50 has them as likely in as the #15 seed and thus pushing VW out.

Celina according to F50 is kind of a bad 1st round draw with some teams considered numerically to be much weaker sandwiched above and below Celina in projected seeding. That said, Wapak is still Wapak.

I'm just gonna move on since this is circular. It'll just be "last word" forevermore over and over again with the same 2 points. So, 7 teams - pretty good. Bath has a legit shot at R20 in my opinion but they're also confusing. Win against Defiance 28-0 and lose to O-G 26-0 (battling the remnants of Helene, but still). I'd like to see them go win a state title for the WBL but with the other regions in D5 winning the region is probably where reasonability stops.

Watching us probably get manhandled by Wapak twice in a row is not something I’m looking forward to lol

Also, I still can’t really tell if the league has been super tough this year with how back and forth it’s been or if every team really is just average or below average outside of Wapak. It’ll be interesting to see how we all do in playoffs compared to last year

I think the league as a whole is up this year. I'd say Bath could win R20, Wapak is right behind London for R12, and Defiance isn't a slouch either. That's where I'm at right now
