Such a money pit so many schools have broadcast for there fans and the ohsaa comes in a swipes up money from a tv contract to screw the little community broadcast it’s about time the OHSAA gets dropped from controlling this market. All schools broadcast for free yet the OHSAA gets there hands in everyone’s pockets from ticket sales to live streams it’s an issue and needs to be fixed. Give schools the rights to broadcast and let spectrum go!!

Has anyone used the box cast app on Roku to watch? I want to watch Hoban vs Walsh on Friday and would like to watch it on tv instead of my laptop. And I hate screen casting from my phone or IPad.
I got the box cast app. But I don’t see the game posted or even a way to pay for the game.

One might posit that instead of (or in addition to) selling single game access, OHSAA/Spectrum should offer an all-access pass for every game that night. I don't know how many people purchase multiple games at $10 each, but one might think the gross revenue would be higher if they also offered $20 for all games. There is a slew of games that I'd like to check out, but I'm not spend $100+ to do so. So they might get $10 max (if I want to rewatch Massillon). But that's it; I'm not paying $10 for each and every game in which I have only casual interest. Can't think I'm alone in that.

News bulletin. The OHSAA is not a charitable organization. If it doesn't make money now or at the state basketball tournament when is it supposed to make it?

OHSAA is 100% a charitable organization. It’s a 501C

MY-YTV Youngstown Channel 33-2 will have Sharon vs Hickory for those interested in PA teams as well

501C can still make a profit. Indeed, it has to if it wants to stay in business.
You are correct Oil Filter, 501C’s can make a profit. However they must
funnel the profit back into their activity’s. Which means we should
benefit from lower ticket prices and lower streaming costs to watch
games on the stream. They are a Nonprofit not a CashCow.
Enjoy your game tonight.
Go Herd

Send them an email about that, they might take the suggestion and do it. Only way they'll know people want something like that is if we tell them.

Well, at least it's way better than my team during the regular season that charges $12 a game and then on top of it plays commercial ads after every drive (sometimes in the middle of drives during a timeout causing you to miss half of the next play). Commercial ads on a pay per view broadcast, go figure.

I don't even mind the $12 a game (steep as it is) as much as the no-replay policy. If you have MCTV you can DVR the game and watch it as many times as you want for free. If you pay for the stream, it disappears after a few hours and you have to wait until December to watch it again.

Hey Spectrum, not all of us care to watch D1 playoff games. How about showing the best potential matchup for that week regardless of division? Instead I get to watch Ed's win by 4 TD's again. I did watch the stream of the Hoban game last week. The price ($10) was not bad but the broadcast quality was. The stream kept freezing up for parts of the 3Q and all of the 4th and became unwatchable.

Hey Spectrum, not all of us care to watch D1 playoff games.
True dat. There are several games I'd like to check out (or check in on). None are D1.

So I guess I'm compelled to pay $10 for each one. Which means that they may get $10 total.

Is the OHSAA at least able to break even? Or should it appease the weekly parade of whiney cheapskates in this forum who expect everything for free?

Yes send them an email. Maybe they’ll just give up their money or maybe they’ll send someone to break your knee caps.

Pretty basic. Allowing schools to continue to stream their own games would reduce their streaming revenue. By the way, OHSAA turned a profit of nearly $6M in ‘22 according to their filing. Keep in mind that is after paying expenses and salaries of up to $200k
