I think Reading and Taylor will have some battles and its going to come down to 1-4 in each lineups how well they can hit smith/linneman

IMO its Taylors to lose.

Losing Burdick and Thoma are big for Taylor but Linneman will really get to showcase her arm in the Circle this year and could break some CHL records now that she wont be splitting time.

Wilson winning POY last year was a shocker. DP played 3 non CHL opponents all season (losing big to 2 of the 3)
Her AVG was only with 40 AB's and she doesn't pitch either.

If IH can get some pitching They could end their CHL losing streak they are returning some girls that are decent.

1) Taylor
2) Reading
3) Madeira
4) Wyoming
5) DP
6) MM
7) FT
8) IH (may pick up a win and end their CHL losing streak)

CHL- Batting averages wow...are they in league or over all? because there is no player in the CHL I have seen that would hit .400+ vs GMC, GGCL, or ECC pitching...

The info is only as good as the person typing recording the info.... I was following a recent HS game (that I was in attendance at) and a girl hit into a FC. The batter was credited with a basehit.

The bottom 4-5 in the CHL are BAD.... those teams all play each other twice.... not many pitching battles going on in those games.

So if you are getting 20+ AB's vs VERY bad competition yes those AVG's can become inflated.

Look at the the top 2-3 in the CHL and look at their schedules and their girls BA's those are the studs.

Just my opinion from someone with no affiliation with the CHL or Taylor

Thoma would have started somewhere for every GMC, GGCL, and ECC team last year even if it was just to DP (including Lakota West). She wouldn't hit .600+ but I think over .400 was very possible. You had really good pitchers at West & Oak Hills, above average pitchers at Mason, Milford, Mercy, and Lebanon, and the other teams were average to below average pitching-wise. Currently hitting .300 as a freshman at Thomas More.

Linneman (whose older sister is a college D1 pitcher) would be the #1 pitcher for every school in the GMC, GGCL, and ECC except Oak Hills and possibly Lebanon this year. She's a high-level summer ball pitcher and has played with some of the best players in the bigger Cincy conferences.

Honestly, it's a shame they have played in the CHL and not one of the larger school conferences. Taylor should have beefed up their schedule to showcase them a bit more especially with 13 non-conference games to schedule each year. Only scheduled 1 game each season with a team in the GMC, ECC, and GGCL the last 2 years. They may have lost those games because their overall roster isn't as strong, but it wouldn't have been because those 2 players weren't on par talent-wise with those teams players. Like I said, just my opinion

Wyoming starts out CHL play 3-0 (2 wins over IH and 1 over DP) 4-0 overall one of their best starts in quite some time!

Taylor , FT , Reading and Madeira all are 1-0 in the CHL!

IH CHL losing streak has grown to a 84 games (their last league win came Monday April 4th 2016 vs Wyoming)

Taylor winning streak up to 69 games straight!

Gina Wilson (DP) is hitting .941 (16-17) w/ 6HR and 27 RBI's in 6 games.

Natalie Smith (WY) is 4-0 in the circle (had 11 wins last year)

cam Linneman (TAYLOR) leads in K's w/ 65 (have to confirm w/AD but she has to be close to breaking school record 121 as a fresh 208 as soph and 65 through 5 games this year)

Wyoming Taylor Reading and FT all sit undefeated in CHL play.

Taylor Wins CHL game #71 in a row.
IH drops CHL game #85 in a row.

Gina Wilson for DP has hit 7 HR in 21 AB's this season (i am not 100% for sure if all of these are OTF HR's or not)
She also became the schools career HR leader!

I agree!!
I think Craig was "methodical" with his scheduling this year knowing he was going to have less weapons offensively.
Linneman only threw 2 innings vs MM , and didnt throw a pitch last night vs IH. He is getting some under classman some innings vs the lower CHL teams that I think will pay dividends for the program in the years to come.

They also have a few pretty good incoming 8th graders. 1 being Ellie stafford who may split time with Linneman on the mound next season!

Taylor 28
DP 0
(#72 in a row)
Linneman threw a no hitter and was 4-4 from the plate w/single , 2 triples and a grand slam.

Burdick with a HR as well
Linneman also struck out 14. Was 1 walk from a perfect game

28-0 is just Stat padding. What’s the Coaches reasoning for doing this? This is very avoidable in Softball.

I'm not the coach so I couldnt tell you, but

2 Freshmen w/ less than 10 AB's all season and Soph w/12 AB's prior to this game all 3 started for Taylor.

So you tell 1/3 of the lineup whom almost never get to play to take it easy on someone?

That would be no different than a Football team being up 40 to nothing at Halftime and putting JV kids in the game you tell them to take a knee I guess?

Not a Taylor fan but knowing the makeup of the lower half of that league this may not be as avoidable as one may think. 93 Red ls brings up good points Taylor does a good job of getting the bench players in during these games.

If you haven’t watched a lower half CHL team in action they struggle to make outs and throw strikes. Nothing against any of these schools but the level of play is extremely low.

No! Football gives options to work with,Running Clock, Opponent knows Score and hand off coming every play. I saw number of HS Basketball Games this yr (mainly girls) once a Team attained Running Clock The Coach was saying 5 Passes before a Shot and No Layups or Fast breaks.

Softball let every girl get At Bats,
Play etc... Stat Stuff if possible. Sometimes not enough Hittable Pitches thrown to Stat Stuff. Sally is 3-3 through 3 innings of ABs, she rips another easy Double. The Score is 20-0. Sally couldnt Leave Early, get Called Out, still be 4-4 and Winning 20-0?? What was accomplished for Either Team in a Game that lopsided?
I’m sure Taylor was Playing Fast Pitch and Deer Park Slow Pitch from a Pitching standpoint.

The #1 team in the CHL (reading) had 35 runs scored on them in a game this season. So this looks like something that happens more than you would think.

The CHL is very weak, most of the varsity teams would not compete with the bigger leagues JV or freshman teams... Get a beer and sit down and enjoy CHL varsity softball...

which if you would look above that has been said/discussed by everyone that follows this thread....

was my exact comment.

Not being the Coach is a good thing because apparently the Taylor Softball Coach is a jack wagon! Always good to see a Long Losing streak snapped! Had to be like a 3 hr Softball Game with that Final Score.

Taylor wins their 75th CHL game in a row...
Linneman didnt toe the rubber but did hit a Grand slam for her 5th HR of the season and 35th RBI

**(Wyoming football is on a 49 game CHL football win streak as well!)**

Taylor gets a decent team to play today in SWOC leader Harrison. The SWOC conference like the CHL has some poor softball at the bottom. While not a GMC or ECC type school Harrison does step up to play these leagues and the GGCL so they have seen good pitching it should be a good game. I like Harrison 7-2...

The CHL and the SWOC could benefit from a merger and split into two divisions.
