Here are my observations of the first meet of the year, Dave's Running Series #1 at Findlay.
Girls
400m - Samantha Thomas (Westlake) - 58.95 - excellent opener on a legal track!
Shot Put - Brooke Boes (Tiffin Columbian) - moves to a tie for 50th all-time @ 41' 9" (on my current listing - not shown in my earlier post) based on current data. Won't take much more to move into the top 30!
Weight Throw - Ella Rigel (Leipsic) and Ashley Hodulik (Pemberville Eastwood) upped their respective bests by 5' and 6', approximately, from last year. Ella moves to #25 all-time with her 50' 0" throw, and Ashley moves to #33 all-time with her 47' 10" effort in 2nd place.
Boys
Pole Vault - Returning 15' 9" vaulter, Hunter Garrettson (Newcomerstown), opens with an excellent 15' 0" effort. He continues their long line of excellent vaulters, dating back to the Dave Bell era of the 1980s.
Weight Throw - Returning 73' 5" thrower, Tyler Arbaugh (Van Buren), opens 3' short of his PR with a 70' 5" throw. Arbaugh is #11 all-time and is the Division III record-holder in the weight throw.
