I attended Winton Woods/Kings this morning and Turpin/Hamilton this afternoon. I was headed to Lakota West/St. X this evening but rush hour traffic was just too bad from Hamilton down to St. X. It was really good to see kids getting after it.

I found this interesting, but Harvest Prep is hosting Hoban Aug 23 for a jamboree third scrimmage.

1. Why would Harvest Prep want to scrimmage Hoban?
2. Better yet, why would Hoban want to scrimmage Hoban?

It doesn't make much sense that the best team in Ohio, a DII team, would scrimmage a DVII team. I am guessing that this will be a scrimmage for their JVs and backups only.

It might not actually be that bad. Harvest Prep played two D2 teams last year (even though their combined records were 3-17) and killed them. Hoban is a much, much, much different team than Mifflin or Franklin Heights. They also lost in the second round of the playoffs, but they lost 7-0 to the state runner up. Still, Hoban’s 2nd team would beat these guys.

Hoban isn't going to the trouble of busing their kids to Columbus to only play backups. With the season starting late, their ones will need the work. Jamborees are supposed to function like real games - 4 quarters, complete kicking game, regular clock rules and should involve all aspects of the football Friday Night experience, including charging admission. The coaches may make a collective decision to run it a little differently, but the OHSAA expects these to act as a dress rehearsal. Still, I wouldn't expect Hoban's starters to play more than 1.5-2 qtrs.
