Even without McClain you feel that way? That's pretty harsh, don't you think? I mean, I realize Colerain is down a bit from the past 4 years but my goodness...

Exactly, down year in the Region. FFs best team since the state title team.

Yea, graceunder, just like the movies. Who they are as a team has been determined, can't just become your laser focused Rocky this week.

ok grace, Colerain just needs to be laser focused, they need to understand this could be the last game of their lives. Let's bring that intense defense and super ball control offense with explosiveness. Play with all their heart and leave it on the field so they will remember the Titans.

That is what Colerain will bring, Friday. That is what FF wants to bring. Hopefully, we will have another battle on our hands.

No it would not be Remember the Titans. Colerain doesn’t have a good throwing QB.

True. But it was a backside George reverse, like their lives depended on it, that won the game. Ronnie Bass learned how to run the veer from Rev.

Grace needs to watch the movie, Titans offense is much like the Cards........but hey onto to the great speech just like the Moeller hype speech.

Remember the Titans is one of the best movies. I love watching it. But the better analogy for this rematch coming Friday night would be Rocky II. If the Tribe can pull off the victory I will yell ....Yo Adrian, we did it! That is all the entertainment we will need that night. But if they don’t win it’s a shame.

From a Cardinal fan here as well I understand where he is coming from. This is maybe the weakest Colerain team other than the 2014 Cardinals but that team was extremely young and played powerhouse teams. If Fairfield can not make it out of the 2nd round this year when teams like Princeton and West are only going to get better you have to wonder when will they ever? They lose a huge amount of talent and this is a very weak Southwest Ohio region (from the standpoint of big talent guy). Hope the cards can pull this out and continue to roll on... though I am worried about powerhouse teams up north!

If FF can't get out of the 2nd round this year then the coaching staff will have to seriously ask...when?
I agree. Fairfield is the most talented team in what is a down region this year. Krause is a good coach. I have been saying this is their opportunity all season. If they can find a way to get by Colerain, I actually think Elder or X would be the easier game. When Sycamore nearly won (read: blew) the region a few years ago, they still got absolutely dismantled by Colerain in the regular season. There is a mental timidness that come with playing Colerain from all of the other GMC players and coaches. (There have been periods where that has been Middletown in basketball, Hamilton in baseball, and Princeton football from back in the day. The tradition of winning is powerful.)

How do Princeton fans feel about this past season? 6-5 record but did make playoffs . I know they graduated a few high level recruits but will they be better overall as a team in 2020?

Middie Magic. Wade E was rocking.

I want the Cards to win on Friday night and think they have a solid chance at victory as they already have one under the belt this year. I expect a battle again.

However, I will be elated for Fairfield if they move on to the finals as it is a unique and special experience the community will never forget and will be talked about for years. Also one that if not attained this year may not be in their grasp for a while. Colerain has been in plenty over the past 25 years and will be in the mix again for it next year.

Underwhelmed, speaking for myself. They had a pulse, and I'm glad they were able to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016 (yeah, that's right) and play in their first playoff game since 2007. They should never have lost to Sycamore or Mason. There were three components of their season that I thought held them back:

-The mismanagement of the quarterback position. They tried to force a square peg in a round hole for seven games by starting MJ Horton instead of Dorian Durham. Horton is a great athlete and needed to have the ball in his hands, but not as a quarterback. They made the move late in the season and the offense moved a little better, but maybe Durham gets in a better rhythm late if he was the starter from the onset and maybe play Horton at receiver.

-Anything involving a long snapper. Nearly every missed kick this year was due to a bad snap. Snaps on punts were airmailed and I'm surprised more were not blocked. A bad snap on a punt directly led to them losing to Sycamore. I would like to see them have dedicated specialists at kicker, snapper, and punter (they did for kicker).

-Penalties. Far too many, again. They had about 1,000 penalty yards for the second year in a row. Many of them were personal foul variety. I'd be interested to see how many late hits out of bounds they suffered.

They won six games and I'd say five of them were due to vastly out-talenting the opposition. They played extremely well against West - that was a pleasing performance any way you slice it. Better discipline and play-calling would have allowed them to beat Mason and Sycamore and appear more dominant in the other games.

The cupboard is not bare for next year. I think they have just enough along the lines returning to be sound there. Some underclassmen emerged as well. The safety, Bowers, is a playmaker and was rewarded with a UC offer midseason. If Boyd can get in better shape at running back, he will play his way into an FBS scholarship. They have a budding #1 receiver in sophomore Rodney Harris. In addition to the above shortcomings, they need to groom a quarterback to do quarterback things, and not just stick an athlete in the backfield and hope he makes some magic.

Great strides the past 4 years with 2 different Head coaches , Daniels came into a young team from the year before and struggled the first year , started a turnaround last year before the class schedule scandal, which the players never recovered from . This year lots of hope hype and excitement from the coaches , players ,media , some good some not so good . Over all Daniels is getting the job done , still needs to improve the coaching staff and conditioning of the players . The future is bright with underclassmen that come back Rb is a legit D-1 recruit , Wr is also a legit recruit along with the DB who did pick up a Uc offer midsesason , Jv team went 9-1 I think so that’s a plus , They will get a few more transfers because of facilities that they have and Daniels is getting these kids to the next level some are D-1 some are D-2/3 schools but he is doing what he is supposed to do , I think they will be ok in the next few years and will compete for GMC .

I've said it in years past. Other than Colerain, since Mike Daniels Princeton team, and Watkins at Middletown, has the GMC had a quarterback who could put a team on his back and win a game in the air? It is simply amazing to me that the GMC has lacked high end talent in passing the ball. St X had 2 guys go to the Big 10 recently Colerain always has QBs who can throw touchdowns. Why is it the GMC is so WB challeneged when all you watch on Saturday is guys throwing for 400 yards and on Sunday the majority of the best NFL teams have great passing QBs. Why cant a team like Fairfield, Mason, Sycamore, West, Hamilton, or Princeton develop a QB who can pass for 300 yards on any given Friday? I get what Colerain and East do. The rest, why hasn't anyone decided to do what Elder does and throw for 200-300 yards every week? While I would also run the ball a ton with Fairfields weapons, I would assume by week 7, practice time could be spent better on throwing the football since the running game is in playoff form by week 7? I'm just going to have to keep watching Colerain have the best passing attack in the GMC year after year, despite their low number of attempts. I bet in the game tomorrow night Colerain has more passing yards.

Most teams that make the playoffs and definitely the teams that make deep playoff runs do so by running the ball. Grind it out. O-Linemen would much rather run block too. As Woody Hayes said, " Only 3 things can happen when you pass the ball, and 2 are bad."

I will also say this, I have found that most offenses and their coordinators are clueless as to developing route concepts within their respective scheme. They just kind of wing it. I also see that WR are normally the poorest coached positions on the team, sloppy route running, taking plays off, and not blocking downfield. It is very difficult to find a quality coach for the Wideouts that truly understands the game and the concepts of your offensive scheme. There's too much of the "Just give your athletes the ball in space" these days within most teams passing schemes without genuine knowledge of how to get said athlete actually in space against different coverages and defensive schemes.

Cincifb, I can't recall names but Sycamore has had some good success throwing the ball. Cards are going to run it, East aka lesser cards to the east are going to run it, (they have had a couple QB's who could throw it but), West had offensively challenged Larry, Indians are run 1st unless coaches kid is QB, Princeton has been clueless, Mason seems to change it up annually, HHS and MHS irrelevant. I really don't understand why more don't throw except they are old school and afraid to take a chance. Bill Walsh would advise them otherwise.

I get what your saying but teams that win more run more. That's the goal. Also, as I said, most OCs are completely clueless with regards to integrating proper passing schemes that fit into their offense and WR coaches are even worse.

Honestly, ask yourself how often you see a team's wideouts that are actually very well coached? Most run terrible routes, half most of their routes, and don't take pride in blocking. Most people don't notice those little things just like most don't pay attention to the line play.

The sophomore class is very good. The JV and Freshman teams played well. The youth programs are also doing well. I expect the Vikes to make the playoffs for the next several years. Have to keep the players at Princeton and coach them up. Future looks bright.

Colerain v Elder. That is the best possible matchup. Elder’s QB can throw, but Colerain will bring it hard on both sides. It will be fun.

Great win tonight Cards!!!!

Big time game next week!!!!

Lots of adversity and this team keeps on rolling.

Way to go coaching staff! Great Job!

Win or lose next week, you have done well.

The only teams to ever beat Colerain except.maybe 1 loss to Hilliard Davidson are teams who can pass, like GCL quality/ HH Wayne quality passing game. At what point will a GMC coach develop a passing game, or all they all just satisfied to finish 2nd and get to a hopeful 2nd round playoff game if they can get another GMC opponent first round?

I think to say it's too hard or whatever is complete BS - to think the kids cant learn it and execute. Not buying that. Do you really think guys like practicing running plays they already know for 2 hours every day? It's not like they dont watch college and the NFL, and see other teams do it. Even some D2-7 teams have prolific passing games. I'm just saying, until we see a quality passer in the GMC, Colerain will go 8-0 every year because they actually have a passing game every year to complement their running game.
