2018 Division VI Schedules

Why is it ML can make the play-offs whether the Flyers play a 9 game league schedule or 8 game league schedule even though ML is one of the smaller schools in the league ? Why punish a team for being successful, which the rotating schedule does as every year the Flyers have trouble finding non- league games.

should be able to find two non league teams....just have to put the EXtra work in finding the teams......

The MAC needs to go back to a 9 game league schedule. Why should one of the most successful teams in the league have to scramble every year to find opponents, just so other league teams possibly have a better shot at making the play-offs.

has Marion EVER played just 9 games on their schedule?

I would rather play New Bremen than some school 100 miles away. Plus the Flyers played the Cards the last 2 years and had no trouble making the play-offs, might benefit NB not to play ML but really does not effect ML's play - off chances one way or the other.

as long as it's benefits Marion...well then i guess it is ok:Ohno:

Today's Feb 7 - what's the latest on Marion vs Patrick Henry in week 2?

Is this game still on?

That's not what I posted, being from Minster I am sure you are good at counting money but not very good at reading comprehension.

great with reading, at least that is what the Nuns use to tell me.....but i do know that just playing ONE non conference game stinks for teams trying to get into the playoffs.....just ask St Henry how it affected them years ago..

Ask the 2007 Parkway team too...

It's not like Parkway wasn't given an opportunity to make the playoffs however. They had a home game that season against fellow region 20 opponent Marion Local and were beaten soundly. Even if they had made the playoffs due to 2 non-conference games, they weren't getting past MSML in region 20 anyway

2007 was, in my opinion, Marion Local's best team ever. Parkway stood no chance but 8-2 and 2 losses to State Champions deserves at least an opportunity to play.

2007 Panthers clearly deserved a playoff spot - they were a strong team.

They were quite possibly better than three or four of the teams that received a postseason bid in Region 20.

How did it effect St. Henry ?

Why ? Life is not always fair ? Win your games it is that simple, Marion Local had some good football teams in the late 70's early 80's that did not make the play-offs that's the way it is. Why stop at 2 OOC games why not make it 3 ? Or better yet why not improve your football team so you can beat ML and Coldwater instead of adding an extra OOC game. Why should ML have to scramble every year to find teams to play just to make it easier for other teams in the league to make the play-offs ( with 2 OOC games). With 7 divisions if a MAC team can't make the play-offs playing one OOC game they probably don't deserve to be in the play-offs.

Because ML is in a conference, which is supposed to take into account the needs of ALL members - or at least MOST of the members.

Do you understand how selfish you sound here? ML has been blessed with success beyond imagination for the past 19 years, and you're whining about having difficulty scheduling one extra game per year?

I feel for ML's AD and how much work he has to put in, but I feel this is a small price to pay for ML to be a member of the best conference in the state.

Trust me, I give all the credit to ML's success to Tim Goodwin. Funny thing is if the MAC would have had 2 OOC's games in the 90's would have ML ever fired their previous coach and I am not talking Cramer. You can call it whining but the fact is ML can make the play-offs whether they play one OOC game or 2 OOC games. Want to compete vs. ML or Coldwater hire better coaches it is that simple like ML did, like CW did in the 90's. I do not feel like the league should compensate other schools (2 OOC games) just cause they can't beat the top schools in the league its called socialism make everything equal for everyone.

MAC teams DID have two or three non-conference games throughout the 90’s. Versailles wasn’t added until 2001 and Anna in 2006. I believe FOrt Recovery started football around 1996?

Why stop at 2 OOC games why not make it 3 ?

The original proposal in 2007 was for the MAC to go to 3 non-conference games (skipping two conference teams, much like the Big Ten was doing at the time to maximize their bowl invitations). An alternative of skipping one conference opponent to have 2 non-conference games was included as a compromise, which was adopted.

Trotwood Madison is looking for a week 2 opponent. Sounds like a worthy opponent for Marion Local. Drive time of about an hour.

Yes the game is still on. I figure that Patrick Henry either couldnt find someone to play, or they figured it wasn't worth the amount of money to cancel on Marion to play one more year.
