Don Connolly published a weekly newsletter called "Our Times". I found some old issues from 1981,
In the first issue of April 12, 1981 Paul Landon is listed first with a 4:27.0 1600m time
In the second issue dated April 18, 1981, Doug Hopster was first with a 4:25.8, John Wiehe second with a 4:26.6 and Landon third with his 4:27.0,
The third issue dated April 25, 1981 had the same top three with the same times
The fourth issue dated May 2, 1981 still had the same top three with the same times
The fifth issue dated May 9, 1981 had Lawson of Middletown with a 4:23.3 and Landon with a 4:24.9 which was a converted time from the mile, Connolly used a conversion of 1.6 which was taken from the OHSAA rule book from 1981
