Week 1 Lakota West (13-1)
The offense graduated 4 of the 5 starters on the OLine, 4 year starter at QB and 4 of their top 5 receivers.
They do return the 2nd leading WR in the GMC in senior Brennan Remy (46 catches for 665 yards and 10 TDs)
But the offense gets a boost with the pending transfer of the EE's RB Jordan Marshall.

Defensively LW returns 7 starters but graduates 4 including 3 D1 players MLB Michael Brankamp, FS Malik Hartford (Ohio State), SS Ben Minich (Notre Dame), CB Josh Fussell (Northwestern)

Week 3 McCallie (10-3) (see previous post)

Week 5 The EE (13-2) graduates 17 of 22 starters and loses a RB to the transfer portal so it's back to the drawing board for team demonic.

Week 6 Elder (10-3) returns 1 on offense (OL Schorsch) and 3 on defense: LB Dugan (81 tackles), LB Arnold (40 tackles) and DE McKenna (21 tackles)

Bombers hire 14 year Colerain coach Jeff Woltz as OL Coach (shown below with Coach T)

Woltz replaces Steve Carpenter who died suddenly in Week 1 this past season.

1st day of offseason program. Sounds like a good showing program wide. Will be interesting seeing how the varsity team is molded and what the team we'll eventually see will be comprised of.

Woltz replaces Steve Carpenter who died suddenly in Week 1 this past season.

Coaching in the Coverdale offensive system will be a big change for Woltz as he has spent his time playing and coaching in a program that ran the ball over 90% of the time from the triple option

What do you think we'll see from the offense. It took all year to figure out they were more dominant running the ball. You think this teams identity will take all year to emerge or will they have a good idea of their strengths early in the season?

A 3 quarterback system would work well with the rumor that Michael McColgan is coming back from Culver to finish his junior and senior year. It would be Herbstreit, Vollmer, and Mikey. After a grade report for O'Malley in the secondary, rumor is he will be switching to WR.

Would be interesting if McColgan returns after spending his sophomore year at Culver Military Institute ($57K boarding tuition)
As a freshman at X he played both QB and WR.
At 5’11” 175lb he was the starting QB for a Culver team that finished 2-8.
He completed 52 of 103 passes (50%) for 691 yards and 3 TDs and 4 INTs.

If he is definitely coming back I think he will join O’Malley, as a former QB converted to WR
Neither will be transferring to Withrow.

Herbie is the odds on favorite to be the starting QB taking most of the snaps.
Vollmer was stellar at a prestigious QB camp over the Christmas holiday.
When X has the ball, Vollmer won’t leave the field, lining up in the backfield, the slot, wideout, in the gun and under center.
He will be Coverdale's favorite chess piece.

I count 14 offensive skill players capable of putting up solid numbers in a varsity game......Herbstreit, Vollmer, O’Malley, Napier, Patrick, Stegbauer, Reilly, McClatchey, Weber, Taylor, Betts, Shamsi, Klare and Wassler.
Make it 15 with McColgan.

And no one will be transferring to Withrow

Week 4
Center Grove (IN) @ Cincinnati St. Xavier
The 2021 dream matchup I concocted 2 years ago. lol

Week 4
Center Grove (IN) @ Cincinnati St. Xavier
The Trojans have won the Indiana big school state title the last 3 seasons, finishing 14-0, 14-0 and 12-2.
Last seasons 2 regular season losses were to Trinity 29-28 in OT and Cathedral 40-29.

Offensively CG returns Indiana recruit junior QB Tyler Cherry (6'5" 210lb) who threw for over 2,000 yards and 20 TDs in last season's sophomore season. Leading receiver senior Noah Coy (5'10" 165lb), a Cincinnati commit for baseball, returns after a junior season of 61 catches for 1,147 yards and 13 TDs. Junior TE TJ Williams (6'0" 200lb) is also back.

Defensively the Trojans return 7 starters
Kaden McConnell LB Sr. 6’2” 205lb
Nate Johnson DT Sr. 6’3” 250lb
Joe Gaffney S Sr. 5’11” 170lb
Elijah Chandler DE Sr. 6’2” 245lb
Ryder Woolwine DE Jr. 6’3” 210lb
Michael Soderdahl FS Sr. 5’10” 170lb
Owen Bright LB Sr. 6’0” 200lb leading tackler

Head Coach Eric Moore who battled cancer during last season will hopefully be back for his 25th season (7 state titles)

Did not know that Loyola Academy, who destroyed X on ESPN last season in Willamette IL, was coming to Ballaban Field in Week 2.
The class 8A Illinois state champs finished 13-1, graduated 18 senior starters and saw their head coach of 17 years retire.

With week 10 still open, the Bombers have 6 home games, the Evil Empire likely at Nippert in week 5 and will have to travel to Chattanooga in Week 3 (5.5 hours) and Cleveland (4 hours) in week 9.

  1. If Herbstreit wins QB position will Vollmer play WR/slot receiver?
  2. Will Hammond play DLine or OLine?
  3. Will Fleetwood play DLine or OLine?
  4. Will Weber play WR or safety?
  5. Will O’Malley play WR or safety if he is not QB1 or QB2?
  6. Will Justin Kattus play DLine or LB?
  7. Will the RB position strictly be the 2 seniors (Napier and Patrick)?
All the articles regarding Hammond's commitment to Michigan indicate they want him on defense.
He and Kattus flipped between NG and DE throughout last season.
The defense depth chart heading into spring....

The Loyola game has now been cancelled.
I thought this might be too good to be true
I can picture their new head coach, looking at a bare cupboard and a 5 hour week 2 trip to a team prepared to administer a payback beating, and screaming CANCEL!!!!

The Week 4 game against Center Grove has now been cancelled. Now playing at Withrow.

And there goes the dream matchup
So X just lost 2 home games from top notch out of state teams.
Would like to know the real reasons for the cancellations (maybe they weren't actually scheduled in the first place?)
Now going TO Withrow whose roster will likely be a couple dozen transfers from the evil empire by game time.

Looks like it’s a home-and-home series with Withrow in ‘23 & ‘24.

And by my count, Lakota West will have slightly more transfers from Moe than Withrow will this fall. But, it’s only February, so that could change. 😉

St X plays both this upcoming season, so either way you are likely to encounter them.

Post your list of players headed to both schools and I'll see how it compares to mine.
Also sources say the dumpster fire that is and always has been the Evil Empire has the HC on the way out as well.
The Faustian bargain made with Lucifer in the early 1960's has always had a demonic grip on the Evil Empire and the only way out is a total purge of the "program" or an exorcism conducted by Archbishop Schnurr.

By location: 5 home games at Ballaban Field, 1 game at Nippert (EE), 1 game in Cleveland, 1 game in Chattanooga and 1 game in Hyde Park.
By division: 6 D1 equivalents, 2 D2 equivalents (Withrow and LaSalle) and not sure where Ocala Trinity Catholic falls - they lost in the S1 state finals and finished as the 71st ranked team in the state of Florida

and their other 3 losses were to Springboro, Hamilton Badin and Archbishop Hoban.
They won the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference Red Division (5-0)
As we can see by their non-league schedule they are not afraid of challenges.....
They were blown out by region 5 powerhouse Archbishop Hoban 49-13
