Youngstown Area Coaching Changes

They kicked him to the curb because the powers at be thought they could do better with their own. See how that worked out for them
Not true, he was one of their own. Don’t want to get into details it’s not my place but their were circumstances that called for a suspension or dismissal and obviously the powers to be chose dismissal.

I’ve heard things some I believe some I don’t, but still don’t think he shoulda been gone, especially after what they have dealt with since

I can’t get over the fact of that Memorial hired a middle school coach, a middle school assistant at that to be their head coach. That’s just completely wild to me
I think the administration has a goal of changing the community and it doesn't include sports as a top priority. It seems like STEM is the focal point (rightfully so) and discipline a close second. In another universe, I'm taking over the program. But that's all I'll say about that... 🤣

The basketball team is doing well so far this year. It's just a shame that the football program is in the state that it is in.

Yeah, I should've said football has become less of a priority. I wonder how the gridiron club is these days? Seems a lot of those guys have gotten older or passed away. They were incredible and truly cared about the program.

The gridiron club at one point was an excellent organization. Then, it became a good old boys club. There's a reason why many former alums and football alums aren't involved.

Did the new Struthers coach resign?
You're usually pretty clued in to this program and the ones in this area of Youngstown. What have you heard about their situation. This would be a complete and utter shock as most everyone I have talked to felt this was a pretty good hire and that he was ready for this opportunity.

I received a text about an hour ago stating he resigned. Waiting for confirmation.

Hadi is a Liberty alum and could end up with the Leopards' HC job despite his lackluster stint at Leetonia. He was 2-28 there over three seasons in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Paul Hulea then had some moderate success for the Bears, but they've now gone 0-10 in each of the last three seasons under three different coaches. So it hasn't been an easy place this past decade to be successful.

As mentioned previously, Hadi is currently the varsity wrestling coach at Boardman. He's also the owner or part-owner of a bar/restaurant with two locations, and owns and operates a handful of convenience store/gas stations. That's a lot of plates to juggle, and calls into question whether he can devote the time and have the necessary commitment to keep the Liberty program above water.

Joe Simon was a respectable 19-23 over 4 seasons with playoff appearances the last three years for Liberty. Not sure why Simon stepped away (or was not renewed ?). Would former coaches Chet Allen (I think most recently an assistant at Mineral Ridge, but now Hake is the HC there); or Brian Jones (1-19 the last two years at Howland) be interested in returning ?
