Week 2 - Versailles vs. Fort Loramie

The Tigers played ball-control with a few big plays from the arm of QB Osborne. Loramie had a tough week 1 opponent in Minster. Thoughts on the game?

I like Versailles in this game by maybe 7-14. I could see the final being 28-14 or 21-14 in favor of Versailles.

Brothers Osborne have had huge games against FL the past two years. First Jack O. with over 200 yrds rushing. Then last year younger brother Michael O. had a big game with 3 receiving TD's. Osborne has another big game this year, along with receivers Griesdorn, Bergman, and Watren. RB's Henry and Francis will continue to improve and gain confidence. Not sure if Gehret is back this week, but if so watch out. The line played well against some pretty big Bulldogs last week. Tigers by 4 TD's

what happened to the Gehret boy?

When Jack had his big game, FL just were wore out playing on a hot humid night. Jack just played Offense. Depth will be a facror this week with temperature in the 90s. Players will need to hydrate, and coaches are going to need to rotate players to help prevent cramping.

FL Boys are in school while Versailles will be enjoying their last day of summer.
Did FL have any cramping issues Last week vs Minster?
Versailles had one player cramp up vs Celina. Celina had several boys.

Friday Night Lights in August. Hydrate Up!!

I see both teams trying to rotate a little deeper than coaches are comfortable with this Friday. Versailles has rotated about two players in about ever position except Center and QB. Michael Osborne started at safety and played every other series, his back up senior Erick Grow comes ups and hits well so I can see him giving #17 a little more rest this week.
If Gehret plays, he will add to the rotation to help keep boys fresh.

Looking forward to this game; to see the improvements the Skins have made from Week 1! A very young team but some talented kids that could make for a fun team this year; best of luck too both teams.

Looking forward to this one too. I’d assume Gehret will be held out, but Tigers have solid running back play waiting. Something I’d like to see the Tigers do more is throw the ball. Very talented receivers. Marion and Coldwater know who Michael Osborne is. They’ll prevent his legs so we’ll have to beat them by extending the field. Just not sure Celina’s line gave them anytime to do so.

It would make the offense more balanced if a short passage game were successfully carried out along with the ground and pound and broken play long passes.

It's interesting when folks talk about Versailles being a run heavy team (New Bremen as well). I only get to see them when they play Marion Local. Consequently I come away from the experience thinking Versailles and New Bremen are the two best passing teams we play. I recall Versailles putting together one drive in particular last year that chewed up most of the quarter with a series of short passes. It was frustrating actually. Obviously Marion Local took the running game away from them but I thought their passing game was very good.

Well I think we are a heavy run team and Goodwin knows that. He stacks the box forcing us to pass.

Last time Versailles visited FL was the hottest football game I ever attended. ( if not for rain delay, there would have been serious cramping problems)If tonight is like last night, it couldd be just as bad, so humid!
What will it feel like at 7 and start of 3rd quarter?
7 = 92 Dergrees, 3rd 88 degrees.

Pretty good outcome to that game tho!

I think the only way to beat Marion is to throw the ball. You may have limited success running the ball but more time than not they find a way to stuff you. The Flyers only weakness (and most teams are this way) is an athletic quarterback who can extend plays and beat you with stuff they don’t see on tape. Marion is the best coached, most disciplined high school football team in the state, and honestly it’s not even close.
