Opening the official game thread to discussion.

VASJ is coming off a dominant win over Canton GlenOak in Week 1, 42-7. Bo Jackson was responsible for 3 TD’s, Brian Kortovitch, D’Angelo White, and TJ Moore were all responsible for the Viking scores. Viking QB Johnny Vuraich threw 2 of the TD’s, Friday night.

Cardinal Mooney is coming off a low scoring affair with Lake Catholic, falling to the Cougars 14-0.

Coming from a VASJ perspective, how does Mooney look overall, especially after going up against one of the contenders in D-IV?

Unfortunately this one will not be close! VASJ has too much for Mooney. This one will be a running clock.

I like my Vikings to win this one, but no way is this a running clock. The Cardinals gave an extremely good Lake Catholic team all they could handle, I suspect the same will happen Friday night. Joe's by 10-14, IMO.

Mooney is normally pretty good against the run, but bo isn’t your average high school back. I can see a 28-10 vasj win

Lake is waaaay overrated. Mooney isn't very good and VASJ should absolutely running clock the Cardinals

Mooney has some decent skill players but not much of a line and the QB can’t get them the ball. Should be another blowout. Their best offense against LC was broken plays with the QB scramble.

JOES beat Mooney by 4 touchdowns last season. The Vikes are better this year. It could get ugly.

Don't base it off the Lake game - Lake is overrated.
The 3rd Reich was pretty formidable back in the 40's from what I hear.

For the Mooney faithful that is making the trek to the north coast for the game, Friday. I can offer a few tips.

Parking: The school parking lot is very tight and is usually a b to get out of. I would recommend parking across the street from the gym for ease of entry and exit. Another area is in a grassy lot where a few fans parked in the 2 home games hosted at the school. This is more of a tailgate area and would believe it to be the same this season. I attached a photo below of the area:

Don’t be alarmed about a UH medical office building sitting there. A lot of us have parked there for years in that lot for basketball games.

Food wise: There are a few places I would recommend for pregame drinks and food. First one being Cebars located just a walk from the school. They only take cash but have decent pricing for drinks and food. Another place I recommend is Skinny’s. It’s a bit further and sits across the street to where the Vikings football team used to call home, over at Euclid HS. I recommend either the burgers or their wings. But they usually have specials happening as well to choose from.

Come on - for losing to WJ? Other than Massillon, Avon, and St. Ed's, I think WJ can beat anyone in the state.
Exactly. Plus if Ursuline added another DL/LB in the box it might be a different game. Ursuline's defensive coordinator lost that game. I think even WJ fans would agree. But Ursuline isnt overrated.

Also to note, if getting off at E.200th Street, avoid at all costs as they are doing construction and is one way only. I would recommend getting off at the 185th exit.

It wasn't the DC's fault, we just have some inexperienced LBs. They will get much better, we'll be fine.

Won’t face many OL like that, when you had a 3 down front and nobody on the DL was disruptive at all that was is the issue, just need to get it fixed before a game with Chardon

The fact that there were only six in the box all games falls on one person... If our LBs are inexperienced and the DL isnt disruptive enough to play with three, then another body needs added. Every time we lined up with 6 in the box we did Walsh a favor is all I'm saying.

Love Skinny's. Good food and cool atmosphere.

Total domination. Many starters got to sit back and watch this one. Bo did Bo things tonight. Once he gets to the second level of the defense he is a load to catch let alone tackle.
